It was a long while ago I did that, so it's hard to remember. I recall it not being fun lining things up. Wrenches learned to fly, but that common place here. :p
I'm not sure the brand I got a bunch of to be honest. I assumed they were CHINA made, but maybe not. They're ~$50.
Looked it up before posting. I got a bunch of Carter branded ones that are USA origin apparently.
Gee whiz, I feel like an idiot. Can you tell it was a long day? Someone sent me a DM and when I tapped that e-mail, I guess I fat fingered it & opened your reply notification e-mail instead. Or, something like that. So, my brain defaulted to my original task & ignored that I was replying to a...
Oh I know that, much easier to swap with one on the shelf that fits right in place, or a CHINA copy to make things quick. Just had to do it a few days ago actually as a round one with 31 hours on it died.
I have a few NOS of the square ones and multiple options for the round type ones if the electric pump is what you're looking for.
Honestly, I have seen both fail about the same. The square ones seem to fail more simply because they're all older, so older stuff fails more often. But new ones...
So, trailer is finally going to have some updating!
Trading out the MEP 802A to a MEP 803A. Will share more details on that later.
Also, the brackets for the fuel tank are being changed from angle iron to C channel to avoid the occasional vibration issue when they made contact with the...
So, took me a bit to come back! Over the weekend I went to do my standard 6 hour load bank test & it failed. Had to work through some mechanical issues.
Had the day off to go pickup an auction win & seems like it will pass today. At ~5hrs, 12,000 watt load.
Needless to say, the issue this...
Did this just now & got ~7.8 ohms. So, something is keeping them from parallel between CT1/2 & the resistors or one is bad. Looks like I know where to dig into next. Thank you!
@kloppk R13 & R12 are getting the same, elevated voltage readings as I posted above.
So, this is making me think there is an issue with the CT or the wire trail going through CT3 that is making the CT read higher?
If I recall, the TM test for the CT in the machine is a simple continuity test &...
I don't want to bury my specific issue in this thread, so I started my own here if you'd like to follow;
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-803a-overload-fault-troubleshooting.219463/
Years back when I first joined the forum, I think you said this. It stuck & I have found it to be a good SOP. It can be annoying when you are on your 4th or 5th time of going through the 6hr load test. But, after getting my first unit through it & considering it done, I went 4 years with no...
Okay, thank you.
I don't know why I didn't check it. I must have read incorrectly in another post where you talked about this and thought only the first 3 were for each leg. This is what happens when brain fatigue sets in!
Running doesn't mean working. But, it's half the battle. If you are new to these, a good rule of thumb to go buy is if it will pass a 6 hour 100% load test without a single fault or issue, then it is good. At least that is how I base "rebuilding" them. Any gremlin that a machine will have...
