    Cucv upgrades.

Thanks, those are good pictures of the cowl stuff. I'm looking to do the same work on the M1009 since it isn't so much "leaking" as much as it seems like the cowl drains are plumbed into the cab aua Here's the direct links to the posts ODFever was referring to in the post above that have to do...

So I just bought a HEMTT....

I have for so long wanted a HEMTT - $13K is nothing!!! Especially since it drove home under its own power. [thumbzup] As time has gone on I have focused in on wanting a PLS with a material handling crane (M1074). I have to be very patient to find one of those getting out...

HMMWV no lights at all ???

Have you measured the voltage to that pin at the MVLS connector? Just disconnect it from the switch and measure the voltage in relation to any hard metal surface (like a steering column bolt). With the PCB working correctly, it should show 24V approximately. If there's no power at that pin...

HMMWV no lights at all ???

Looks like #15A to pin F on the MLS plug, and pin F on the PCB. Hint, print them out and tape them together. [thumbzup]

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

The ones from EnteJager were $65 a piece - I bought 6x. He still has a few left. For the XM1027, one of my design requirements was being able to drive with AN/AVS-6 NVG which are only compatible with NVIS-A lighting to avoid washing out the imager tubes. The tubes are fitted with a 625nm...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

I picked up a few task lights from EnteJager for both the M1009 and my XM1027. They are similar to the aircraft map light in the picture, but use "secure" white (IR filtered white) and NVIS-A green LEDs. I figured a map light would be good and would look right given that the military uses them...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Wierd, double post... well it's cold here this morning, I saw frost on the hood of the M1009 when helping my wife pack out an hour ago. Glad to have functional glow plugs...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Looks functional - that's probably the most important, appearance usually takes a back seat when time is short but yours looks good. Ahab that's a gooseneck holder (phone, microphone...). When I did the family trip in the spring, we did a cell mount to the windshield and an Aukey 4-port usb...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

I have the toggle switch now (as it came) - haven't had time to dig into the glow plug controls like I'd prefer. I do have a new AntennaClimber glow plug controller card ready to go, but I'm also working on getting some switches made that allow the manual glow to also give you the diagnostic...

    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

Yup, it's buried in the second sentence of post 73, right front parking socket had a bad contact. I have on the list of things to do with me extra money  to replace all of the sockets on the truck. Good, looking, out [thumbzup] Biggest thing I'm doing this week is chasing rain leaks...

    m1008 straight pipe?

It is a Cummins inline-6, not an 8-cylinder baby rattle

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Also new vehicles have their cavities filled with soft foam rubber. Any movement of any body panel surface results in absorption by some form of dampening - they even fill the pillars with foam now so they don't sing like a tuba. For the cars that got THX rated (I've done some work with them...

    m1008 straight pipe?

Hey... There CAN be function to a stack. I'm putting a stack on the XM1027 (CUCV Crew Cab), but the point is to elevate the exhaust, eject dust from the filter's precleaner, keep exhaust sparks away from dry brush, and avoid boiling the fuel tanks. Carving a chimney out of the back of the cab...

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

You should re-torque your nuts after the first 50 miles of driving. If any of them were rusty at the root where it pressed into the hub/axle, I would just replace them - they stretch over time, and rust at the root is a good way to snap a stud.

Interested in the Cowl Box modifications - you didn't happen to take some pictures did you?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

As someone who did car stereos, live sound for bands and studio recording, and only has one good ear (unrelated to both <--), make your M1009 quieter  Underhood noise generation (engine, fan, accessories), exhaust noise (insufficient muffler, pipe reverberation), and interior surface...

    M1008 custom build

How's the Getrag going to hold up to that? Any idea what the rating is? For my XM1027 build, I was looking at 350HP out of a 6BT, which puts it at the 800ft-lb mark. I picked up a Fuller FSO-8406A to do that without grenading. Remember, HP = (rpm x torque)/5252, getting 750HP out of a block...

    Cucv upgrades.

Moving to a 31 gallon is the only off-the-shelf part that fits without modifications. There was once a semi-custom 40-gallon made by a company that is no longer in business (40 gallon suburban tanks don't fit with the suspension/rear trailer hook and cross member). With the jerry can in the...

    Headlight conversion

If you do H4 bulbs, I like to import Osram Truckstar Pro bulbs. The difference is how they get the extra voltage support - Hella makes a 24V H4 but they double coil the filament (left), Osram uses a tighter single axis wind much like the 12V variant to get the same voltage (right). The end...

How to run Multiple battery banks on Toggles

Blue smoke indicates oil in your combustion chamber (rings or valve seals), or bad turbo seals. Nip that in the butt before you end up with an oil fueled runaway diesel...
