    tim292stro's M1009 (formerly math1960's)

On the theme of non-permanent modifications, I will be dry-ice blasting the body, painting the interior 383 Green, and restoring or replacing the door cards and dash pad with new new Maroon parts. New seat covers and foam (probably from a local upholstery shop). Dry ice blasting is a "cool"...

    5-ton Ram air

If you put a funnel on a coffee straw, you're not likely to see much of a difference in how the coffee straw flows... [thumbzup] Keep it under 5"H2O restriction at max power output for your intake and exhaust and you will likely see a difference. 2cents

S250 Comm Shelter Project - HAM & Military Radios

I remember a friend was helping a guy with a 416 trailer expedition mod. They were mounting levels on the trailer, and I managed to catch them just before they drilled the holes for the screws to remind them that they needed to calibrate the trailer to level before mounting the levels... Yeah...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

For setting the privacy options of a video, Youtube has a good video for that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaSM_xcmkOI https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/157177 Looks like a good pull, I like the look of the truck with the flatbed [thumbzup]

Bearing with. You pasted an edit link, we can't view that unless we are you. That said, you've fixed the video, so the earlier link you posted is now working [thumbzup]

    S 250 shelter drain plug

Boat plug at walmart. You could get the same part after it goes through several layers of government oversight, years of abuse, and coming through somebody's private collection - probably pay $80 that way...

Nope. Bigger filter and piping will help, but not as much as a bigger engine

This site is actually so flexible you can just paste the link as text in your post and the site will "figure it out" Pasting this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV4IAPcWx8Q Results in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV4IAPcWx8Q

    My 1009 left me stranded

I'll admit to a little over simplification for the sake of clarity - I presume a fixed DC resistance. AC60G plugs are dual coil with a PTC coil that regulates the current based on temperature - lower resistance (more current) when cool, higher resistance (lower current) when hot. The reason I...

    My 1009 left me stranded

If you source power from 24V, and use 12V glow plugs they will die very quickly. Brace yourselves, this is a long post with TONS of math... The point of the ballast resistor bank behind the air cleaner it to literally resist half of the voltage powering the glow plugs - the voltage...

Idea for useing 12Volt in my Deuce

I genuinely think this is a less complicated/failure-prone method to do it: 100Amp battery Vanner Vanners can be found coming out of transit service with plenty of life left for less than $200 for the 100Amp version. Your motor/generator is rated for less than 1/2Amp at 230V (specifically it...

I hate copper thieves, especially when they have wire cutters and access to an -004a

Sadly another reminder that when this stuff is not guarded by the guys in camo with guns, opportunists move in. Glad it sounds like it'll get fixed without the pain of building it from scratch.

Idea for useing 12Volt in my Deuce

Battery Vanner to charge the 12V batteries, contactor connected to the ignition switch to isolate the "chassis" batteries from the "house" batteries. Done all the time in RV coaches - less to go wrong, easier to fix, quieter.

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

It's coming back to me - we discussed this on another thread didn't we

Does your M1008 with the 700R4 have a lockup converter? Based on your fuel economy I'm going to assume not.

remote start mep-802a's sold on G/L a week or so ago....

Most large standby systems have a "request power" relay contact (closing the circuit actuates the relay that tells the controller power is needed from the load). The purpose of the auto start is to set the run-stop control to "run" and attempt starting until power is observed on the output...

S250 Comm Shelter Project - HAM & Military Radios

Some of the stuff you've said here makes me wonder a bit if you really understand grounding outside of RF. As an Extra Class HAM, I'm certain you're familiar with the concept of the difference between power grounding and RF grounding. Here's where my concerns come in: 1) You should not BOND...

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

I love the "no EMP sensitive electronics"... What about the glow plug controller and the alternator V-regs? Truck doesn't work too well without those... at least for long or in the cold. I paid $4K to a member here for a Mississippi M1009 this week for a truck I would call a "base queen" (not...
