    radiator expansion/recovery tank

It holds a half gallon. The one at Walmart is almost exactly the same as: Seakamp Engineering - Coolant Overflow Recovery Tank but a lot less $$$. There are valid reasons for keeping the air out of the cooling system. It also makes it easy to check the coolant level.

    radiator expansion/recovery tank

Walmart sells a decent overflow tank for $11. Has worked fine on my deuce. There's really no need to do anything fancy for a remote master cylinder fill. Just get a remote reservoir from a late model pickup with manual tranny. I got mine for $5. Make sure you use a tubing compatible with...

    White W-390; The other multifuel

200HP upgradeable to 220HP. I'd scan in the text but it probably won't be legible. When was the LD series developed?

    White W-390; The other multifuel

The White Motor Company developed, under contract to the Army, their own multifuel engine in 1958 using the Reo V-8 engine platform. It used a precombustion chamber and a spherical main combustion chamber. "Even at -36F, the engine started with gasoline or diesel fuel the moment the starter...

    Old 331 gas deuces?(M108)

As Barrman indicated, there are several things that can be done to make the gas engine a litle more user friendly. I found my hot start problem to be significantly alleviated by using a newer holley carburetor and a 12V armature in the starter. A civvy distributor and pertronix didn't...

    remote MC ?s

I got a remote clutch reservoir from a local salvage yard for $5. Mounted it on the firewall so I can open the side cover for inspection/ fill. Make sure you use tubing rated for brake fluid. I used EPDM for Dot 3.

    before I install this transfer-case...

I replaced the seals in my xfer case last year. I had to remove the retainers and use a drift and a large hammer to pound them out.

    Switches for accessories

Radio Shack also sells the above toggle switch.

    air shift axle conversion

I have had several sprag transfer cases. None of which were broken or maladjusted (at least not the sprag section!). The fact is the sprag elements wear out and the transfer case gets a bad rap because of it. This is why they all work in reverse but not forward.

Mech. starter Solenoid Vs. Electically Actuated Starter

I think that you'll be money and time ahead to just get the right starter built for you.

Mech. starter Solenoid Vs. Electically Actuated Starter

You have to time the movement of the linkage with the application of power to the starter. If you don't do this right, you'll grind the ring gear. Best option is to go to a truck shop and have a proper starter made. The starter bolt pattern is standard SAE; shouldn't be too tough.

Motor City Motors - another Deuce on TV

I enjoy the engineering/ fabrication type shows but can do without all of the drama.

    Silicone Knuckle Boots?

I have been using silicone sheet drops purchased from ebay to make DIY valve cover gaskets. While the material compatibility guides recommend against silicone, they have held up fine so far after three years use. Fluorosilicone would be better but is lots more money. Hard to believe that the...

Making a Deuce a (better) highway vehicle?

Something to think about for you folks paranoid about tire speed. I interviewed for an engineering job at Michelin about 10 years ago. The interviewer said that NO over the road truck tires were rated for greater than 65mph. Interstate speeds are 75mph in SD.

    55mph detonation post mortum. . .

I was wondering the same thing; seems like a common failure mode. It'd be nice to find a fix.

    Lockers in a 5 ton???

This is a little off topic but what could possibly be novel enough in gearhart's gear set to be patentable?

    Sprag Clutch Rebuild / Repair

You should be able to take the reverse sprags from a good unit and install into the front sprag clutch. I had planned the same until I purchased the REB kit from Memphis. You can pull the front drive assembly without dropping the t-case.
