Hi All, I have had this death wobble driving me nuts and thanks to this list I found the solution
which are kits to replace springs and bearings in the forward knuckle joints. I was planning
on doing this this weekend, but earlier this week I started to loose steering....
Turn the wheel several...
I am assuming that the manufacturer of the 6.2L diesel engines found in CUCVs are
made by GM. Is this absolutely true? Or do they buy the motors from someone else?
Ok guys this is an easy one. I have a standard issue torque converter for the duals.
can some one point to a manual telling me how to use this thing properly. I'm pretty strong and I don't want to break this thing....:-)
Hi All,
I need to replace the hoist cable on my M108 crane truck body. Can anyone
recommend a source for this, or have any other suggestions related to this endeavor.
I have not had any experience with cable smaller than 1 1/4" and that was a long long time ago.

Hi All,
My buddy Tim with the award winning half track is now restoring a DUKW and needs
some parts transported from Anthem Arizona to the Tower Park meet in October.
He will of course contribute towards fuel expenses.
The parts are as follows:
6 DUKW tires
1 small compressor
1 DUKW seat
1...
Hi All,
I have been having trouble with some nasty person spiking the sidewalls of my tires.
Three times already they have spiked the new tires on my CUCV two at each time.
The last time, they spiked all 6 tires on my XM211/M108 crane truck.
I am doing everything I can to get the hell out of...
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had discovered a source for 12.00-20 6 bolt rims?
Do they actually exist? I was thinking about putting striker tires on my XM211/M108
crane truck hybrid, but the Striker tires seem to come on 10 bolt rims.
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
Thanks,
As some of you may know, I managed to bring an XM211 with an M108 crane body back from the dead. I just received my California Historic Vehicle plates.
I now have to make the crane operational and I am very confused. Acording to the
manual the boom consists of two parts. One is stationary and...
These manuals are available from Portrayal Press for about $60 + shipping.
A bit pricey, but they do very good work. They don't stock them, but make them up when they get an order, so it takes a little time.
Hi All, I need some help here. I am in the process of getting my M211 with M108 wrecker body registered in California. Since it is a heavy truck they want to register it as comercial
which is not only expensive, but it causes problems with insurance. Does anyone have any
solution to this that...
Does anyone know of an online source for the M108 wrecker?
In particular, I need the manuals for the wrecker portion, not the truck portion.
Thanks for any leads. Also what family of trucks does the M108 belong to?
Two questions:
one: According to a guy named Bob Kettler, who wrote some tech tips for Portrayal Press,
the two bolts that attach the thermostat housing to the engine are supposed to be different lengths or there is a possibility of damage to the head gasket in the vicinity of #1 cylinder.
The...
After the exciting time I had the other day, I am double checking the whole cooling system.
I want to make sure I have the thermostat put in correctly since I can't find any pictures
in the manual showing the orientation.
The thermostat has the flat part where the valve is and the sensor part...
Does anyone know if these preasure valves are available in regualr auto parts places like Napa, or is this strictly a mil part? Anyone know where I can get one?
As some of you might know I bought an XM211 with a M108 wrecker body on it from
an add in craigslist for $1000. It was supposed to have been free, but the person who put the add in craigslist didn't actually own the truck.
The truck has been sitting in a fenced in area behind a warehouse out by...
Hi all. I hope you have your smarts caps on.
I have this XM211 that I have to get out tomorrow or I am in big trouble.
I have managed to restore this beast to the point where it runs well, lights all work, etc.
but I have this one problem. If I have air preassure going to the air pack, then all...
