When you do get into see the fiber gears make sure that the oil spray jet is not clogged and it is spraying oil on the gears. It's in the photo that clinto posted. The rusty tower looking thing near the gears with the screw slot on the top of it. It should have an opening that allows oil to...
My M38A1 has the thumb screw battery cover. At first I had my disconnect inside there on the negative of the battery. That became such a pain unscrewing all those thumb screws each time I parked and started up. So I found a disconnect that was for a side post battery and mounted that down...
Yep. Sometimes I am cranking away wondering why it won't start. Then DUH! Turn the switch on dummy!
This is why I have a battery disconnect switch cause the starter switch always has power and if carbon is built up in there elec will leak down.
What I have seen by working on these and rebuilding a few is under the green is usually black. When they have rebuild tags on them many times they ended up green.
The one on my truck worked but had a heavy electrical smell. When I opened it the brush plate was rusted and bad.
I found a used one on e-pay for not too much. I used that one to combine and make a good one.
When I took the starter of my M211 the first time the selection of wrenches I had would not let me access the top nut holding the starter on. (Lots of cussing and bandaids!)
I took a trip to harbor freight and bought a cheap set of S shaped standard boxed-end wrenches. The metal around the...
I have thought about doing this. I have a bridgeport mill but not done much with it. (no time). It would be a process of centering the wheel cylinder and over boring close to the size of the sleeve needed to match the original bore. Then pressing the sleeves in. I don't think it is...
I have used black ceramic exhaust paint on a tractor. Goes on nice. Once dry, when you heat it up the first time it starts curing. The surface was smoking like crazy. I thought it would catch fire. Once done with that it is fine now.
That handle will come apart and you can clean the contacts. It did that on a M35A1 once.
If that does not help I am guessing wiring.
Is your tail light housing well grounded?

Great info at that link. Looking at that, the HVLP gun with the 2.3 mm nozzle might be too big.
I would think that the Behr paint would have more of a tendency to create a run rather than orange peel?
I hate mud dobbers. Some of them fill in every hole they can find in just a matter of hours. Then there are the ones that build a row of mud nests. Argh!!
Yeah my to do list is quite large being out in the country. At least with the drought there is not much grass cutting going on. Now...
The only engine I got unstuck I took the head off and let PB blaster sit in a puddle for days on the piston heads. It was a flat head so where the valves were open I kept spraying those too. I got movement by using one of those plastic shot filled hammers on the piston tops.
When I got the...
I am okay on tops. Was just trying to see how far south I could lure Plowboy.
I have one already on the ex-fire truck, then a parts truck and another rusty one from when another owner did the switch from hard to soft.
One of my runners needs a newer soft top or I need to fix the rusty...
