Hi Group,
I just ruined three brand new outer seals for my rear axle. I am trying to adjust the wheel bearings, per the TM which says to tighten the adjusting nut while rotating the wheel until the wheel's rotation starts to bind, then back off 1/8 turn. The outer seal's key-piece is shearing...
I've tried to download the ORD 9 SNL G-749 that is in the TM section, and I get errors saying it is corrupt. I've tried many times, to open it in a browser window or download it directly (right click and save).
Can someone check it and/or re-upload it? I'd love to have a copy, and I don't...
I'm looking for the small square section o-rings that are under the bolt/washer that hold the secondary fuel filter canisters to the housing. They are not included with the (aftermarket) filters, and in all the threads discussing filter replacement I was surprised to find no mention of it...
Hi Group,
Here's a thread I meant to start right after I got my deuce, but I never did... Too much work to sort through and resize all the pics. But as it's restoration nears completion, here it is. Better late than never! I'll use this thread to post all pics relating to my deuce in the...
Hi Group,
The rubber strips along the front edge of my hood, where it touches the top of the grille, were dried up and crumbly. I couldn't find these parts in the surplus channels or through 'full service' dealers such as Memphis, so I made my own.
It took me a while to think of this... Where...
Hi Group,
My 1967 M35A2 is coming back together after painting it semi-gloss OD (US Army). I have paint masks from Rick Larsen, and will be ready to stencil the truck soon.
Everything about stenciling my truck is clear to me except for the tailgate area... I've read TB 746-93-1, and looked...
Hi Group,
I will soon be making the 400+ mile round trip to pick up my "new" 1952 Studebaker V-18A/MTQ earth borer / pole setter truck. Here's the thread about it:

I am still waiting for paperwork issues to be...
Hi Group,
Peter (pcbowman) picked up his new freshly painted deuce on Monday in Moreno Valley, CA and then drove it up Cajon Pass to pick up some parts from Walker's here in Hesperia. We met up at my house and drove over to Walker's in our deuces. Here's the previous thread on Peter's deuce...
Hi Group,
I was going to post this in the other Gama Goat thread today, but I didn't want to hijack it since this is changing the subject. This is a copy of an old post (over a year ago) from the 2-Stroke Detroit Diesel group on Yahoo, where Goats frequently come up in discussions both because...

$1280 isn't too bad, eh? I spoke to the contact at the campus (Cal. Poly. San Luis Obispo) and he said some interesting things... I won't be able to pick it up until mid to late January because they are searching for...
Hi group,
I thought I'd share some pictures of my 1953 Diamond T M52 that I recently purchased. It is somewhat unique, in that it was remanufactured by Memphis Equipment (probably a long time ago) and has their aftermarket hood, fuel tank, and other details. It's most unusual feature, however...
Hi Group,
My M52 tractor is leaking red oil from the steering gear box and the reservoir is low... My initial thought was to use hydraulic oil or power steering fluid, but the LO says OE10. Motor oil in the steering gear? Seems odd, I would think hydraulic oil would be better, but I'll flush...
Here's a link to a YouTube clip of my deuce and I having fun out in the desert last weekend...

I was going down through that sandy wash to get around a dirt-fill bridge that I caused to collapse the previous day... The weight of the deuce caused a...
Hi Group,
I had a great time with Bjorn and the cranetruck Tuesday and Wednesday... He arrived at my house mid-afternoon on Tuesday after having a bit of trouble; after fueling up earlier in the day he started intermittently losing power. Possibly contaminated fuel or some crud from the tank...
Hi Group,
I thought I'd pass along a neat little restoration trick I figured out a few days ago...
I recently bought a pressure washer (Sears/Craftsman 4 h.p., 2,100 psi), and I've found it to be extremely useful for everything I expected... like cleaning and degreasing. However I discovered a...
Hi Group,
What color / brand of yellow paint are you guys using for bridge plate markings? Rick Larsen's page refers to the color as "chrome yellow" but I can't find it anywhere. Hardware store yellow paints are too mustard-like.
Regards,
Jon
Hi Group,
I think I read in an old PS Magazine that the vertical exhaust on an M35 should be painted "high-temp olive drab", and a stock number was given for this. Has anyone found a civilian equivalent or a source for original surplus paint? What are you guys using? What about just shooting...
Hello Group,
My sprag gave up the ghost, so I bought an air shift transfer case to replace it. I got a good deal because it was sold as an "untested core", however it appeared to be in like-new condition inside and out. It came in a large foam lined wooden box and had an overhaul tag from...
I have finished replacing the rear axle seals and cleaning and repacking the bearings. I adjusted the bearings per the TM, tightening to 50 ft.lbs. and then backing off 1/16 - 1/4 turn (shooting for 1/8 turn) to get the keeper to line up with a flat on the nut. All seems well except for the...
I want to revert my M35A2 back to it's 1968 appearance... I can see the outline of stars on the door and a circular bridgeplate that was painted in the upper right corners of the doors, and lots of OD semi-gloss... Inside the map compartment, under data plates, and the entire underside of the...
