After we finished installing the fittings/valves for the heater, we beat feet to the garage to open the box Mr. Fed Ex dropped off a few hours ago.
Thanks to my shipmates in chat for the tip on the lights.
Pretty nice opening New In the Box parts. Soldier B put on some plastic gloves because...
I'm 1/2 way through my electric wiper upgrade. I bought a 12 volt set off of eBay and got them modded to work. They need paint and the wiring to be complete. We pulled the air wipers motors with their hoses and removed the dash switch and tucked it up under the dash. Once we pulled it from...
Ever since I swapped doors and mirrors, my door hinge pins have been working loose, leaving my mirror brackets rattling . So I'm wondering - do I try new pins (meaning my pins are worn) or do I try the bolt mod that has been discussed here before (meaning the hinges are worn) ?
I'm tempted to...
One of the things I would like to do to my deuce is make it a 6 x 6. I mean when I'm in the mud, sand, chit, whatever; all 6 wheel assemblies are working trying to get me home instead of just sitting there.
Like everyone else I wouldn't mind a little more MPGs and oh yeah, I'm on a budget. If...
I picked up front and rear LEDs for my deuce at a very good price from eBay last week. They both arrived from different sellers on Friday, but I have been busy until today. Soldier B returned from his court ordered birth mother visitation and I was happy to have his assistance again. It's been a...
Now that I have LED tail lights and turn signals coming cheap, I think a head light upgrade might be a good idea.
I looked into 24 volts LEDs and I don't want to spend that kind of money.
I'm thinking about going 12 volts. I think the selection and prices are better on the 12 volt side...
Since the other thread jumped the shark, ran off the rails, got silly stupid, I'm starting another ONLY to show some pics and to tell you how I wired it and why. If you have a better way please PM me. Please, no Harry Potter BS.
So at the suggestion of Rat4Spd (who I love like a brother) and...
Just returned from pulling out two stuck vehicles with the deuce. No one had a camera and it was pouring rain and dark anyway. Let me set the stage:
We are on our 5th day of rain here. The area has hills and dirt and gravity. Some of the roads lead into those hills and they turn to chit real...
I'm taking the plunge and installing dual alternators on my deuce. I have ordered brackets from George (aka TM America) and I just ordered the 24 volt alternator from Pat's Small Engine Parts. I'm going with a one wire set up designed for a Cummins Engine -
CUMMINS ALTERNATORS AND GENERATORS...
Started some mods on my M105 to use it as a Dirtbag camper. I've been bringing my crewcab and pick up camper, but I have to get someone to drive it up for me. It hasn't been a problem yet, but it seems like overkill.
The first thing we did was raise the sides 13 inches. Right now they are...
My son and I replaced the oil seal, axle seal and boot on my front axle over the weekend. We took it slow and because of a late start and a trip to get some tools we didn't finish in one day.
We put the bearings in their own plastic bags and since I was too lazy to get a marker we put them...
So my $300 dollar tire install isn't turning out to be such a great deal after all.
The shop overtightened all my lugs and I can only get a few off. I used to use my 1/2 Craftsman impact and truck supplied air and never had any problems.
So far I've tried -
A Harbor Frieght 1 inch drive...
After Phil put his monster tires on his 5 ton, I asked him what he was going to do with the 10 leftover 11.00 x 20s. "Give them to you, I guess" was the reply. And they are now loaded in the bed of my deuce, awaiting installation. Cheapest price I have found so far is 300 dollars to dismount...
While thinking about the Fall 2010 Dirtbag, I decided I wanted an easier way to load the quads in the bed of my deuce. The way it's done now is I ride the big one up the ramps, we spin it around (just barely clears) and then I use it's winch to pull the other two up backwards.
I wanted a...
I've had Westfolk's secondary fuel filter kit here in the box for a while now. Drama with my boy's birth mom and then this heat has kept me for gettin' it done. Today I fired up the install video and grabbed my 13 year old to put it together.
All told we were in the hot sun a little over 20...
I haven't been around much lately since a little drama with my boy's birth mom is sucking up a lot of my time (and MONEY) right now. But, before all that hit, I placed an order for Westfolk's spin on adapters for the secondary fuel filters.
I already have his primary fuel filter replacement...
I replaced EVERYTHING on my M105's brake system except for one rubber hose and the PB cables (thanks Mark!). I blew brake cleaner through all the lines so I know they are clean and clear. All of the parts from the donor trailer look new, like it came off a fresh rebuild. The system still had...
There is so much wrong with the parking brakes and the service brakes of my M105 that we just pulled the bed to get at everything easier. Came off easily with a highlift jack and four saw horses.
I've tried searching but does anyone know the size or have a source for M105 wheel cylinders or kits?
I got the spin on kit fron Westfolk in the mail today and the 1st thing you notice is the box is pretty heavy. I skimmed through his installation video again and wrote down the socket sizes and torque spec he called for.
Grabbed the boy, donned coveralls and took everything to the truck. I've...
