Hey, while I'm thinking about it...
I picked up a 3-color vinyl cargo cover, 14', this year at aberdeen because the price was right and I thought I'd "make do"...
Anyone have a 12' deuce cover like this, they'd like to trade for my 14' 5-ton cover?
NATO 3-color...
Thanks!
I figured public thanks were due to these two gents; red devils dude and tacticaltruck, for both helping me out with my rusty pile of a deuce.
First off, RDD came through for me in my quest for a simple piece of N/A exhaust pipe. After several years, the truck is now ready to get back to...
Finally thought to bring a camera this time...I actually teach within 5 miles of this museum, but had never remembered to snap pics!
My in-laws were visiting, and I convinced them to visit the "western branch" of the NASM at Dulles versus the "eastern" branch on the Mall in Washington, DC...
Snapped some close ups of the flat-top turn signal guards that live on my '70 Kaiser Jeep. I have not seen these as often as the rounded type. Is this a short-lived subcontracted part that didn't catch on?
They appear to be original to the truck.
Thanks!
Hey all. While I was getting those exhaust pics done, I snapped some shots of the odd humvee commo shelter Ski stuck in the back of my deuce.
It is of a composite construction; not aluminum, more like a plywood shell sheathed in a plastic material - something like that. Anyway, I remember folks...
Hey fellas -
finally managed to bring my camera out to Ski's to snap some specific pics of the pipe I need replacing on my deuce.
I have a non-turbo '70 M35A2, with exhaust intact up until the next to last pipe - the curved section that fits between the aluminum flexible section and the...
Fellas, just a quick Q. What is the sage advice on managing the 4.56 ratios on M1008's....via tire selection....
can 38's, 40's, or 44's successfully offset the high gearing to net a more fuel-friendly 3.23-3.55 ratio?
just wondering what people have done to offset the high gears prior to...
Back when I had my M880, and used it in my landscaping business....some pics of the truck. I put 2" lift springs on it and 33's on OD painted wagon wheels. Also did the PS conversion from an older ramcharger. JC Whitney dual exhaust.
Thanks to Tacticaltruck for the OD paint job. And Bill...
Fellas....
Finally snapped a screenshot from the deuce -34P showing exactly which piece of my exhaust is rotten & needs to be replaced.
It's item 6 from illustration 28, the j-pipe between the flex pipe and the straight stack.
If you got a good used or a NOS one, either way, PM me about it...
Yes, the 5-ton M62 wrecker (thanks for the ID today, Jeff!) I originally spotted 4 years ago is still here at the Dept of Public Works maintenance facility here in rainy Winchester, Mass.
Took some pics of it and another deuce cargo setup for snowplowing here about 2 or 3 years ago when I...
Hey folks...
Maybe you saw that earlier thread I posted asking about this idea I had of dropping a Sub "tub" on a CUCV (LWB K30) frame & chassis.
After some discussion & reality checking, I've come to the conclusion that I'll keep the eyes peeled for a decent K20-chassis Sub that is already a...
I wanted to get some feedback about the successes people have had with fuel choices other than straight diesel in cold weather.
Also, Bjorn, how do you alter your fuel blend in the winter? How much do you use your straight veggie tank (heated) in winter?
If people are running bio blends and...
I searched back in the files here on this topic, seems like only a few posts on this...does anyone have any 6.2's swapped into their M37's or PowerWagons?
Seems like a neat swap...especially if adding the p/s and such from a donor truck....
Not sure if anyone is interested, but John's got at least 3 FMTV's in pieces out at his yard. I believe one was complete, with motor/trans, but in pieces.....
It's a shame to see the pokeweeds growing thru the cabs, somebody should get ahold of the parts and try to assemble one.....not that...
Well, here I am posting a note on the possible meet of VA members at Bjorn's this fall. We were thinking sometime b/w Halloween and Thanksgiving?
VA members, what do you think?
We could have a campout/picnic/cookout and such, maybe even bring stuff to trade/swap....
I am learning new culinary...
When I was jawing with John Winslow and Ollie Davis, the topic of power steering conversions and deuces came up.
Ollie or John had knowledge of people who had successfully swapped in 5-ton p/s with some fabrication. Has anybody on this board any experience or ideas on this subject? I know that...
Ski had a job in Charleston, SC recently which required some additional military vehicles, as well as John Winslow's & Ollie Davis' assistance. So, we drove down to Halifax NC (actually, Scotlandneck) and hooked up with John on the way down to Charleston.
I took some pics of John's place, which...
Are any of you guys going the extra step, and running wvo or bio-blend in your diesel gensets?
Get a decent sized bio/wvo processing setup in a garage or barn, and it would really pay off for all the diesel-powered equipment on a farm or self-sufficent homestead.
All the stuff you use on a...
Mangus, SS, there's been a prob lately since the last upgrade.....when one goes to search the member list, one cannot search more than either the "first" or the "last" page, no matter what query one tries to use....I had no success in any of the formats: by date, member, top 10 posts...
