I guess I didn't/don'tunderstand what your specific issue was in your first Post. If I offended you you have my sincere apology.

    Power differences in my deuces?

My opinion is that you're probably not dong to solve your smoke problem until you turn down the droop setting a little. I turned down my main fuel setting a couple of times with very little effect on smoke. When I turned down the droop screw 1/8 turn the smoke reduced. I've got an LDS in a...

    To all Members.

Westy, in your post you said "I belong to other off road sites" almost as if you are automatically associating SS as an off-road site. Perhaps you are not but if you are I consider that to be a reach. I personally don't care for mud and I don't consider SS an offroad site anymore than I consider...

Hearing Protection - An often overlooked safety concern

Yes, It's possible to appreciably decrease the cab noise in an M35. I've talke two steps and will take two more before winter. !. I installed a Spal 24 volt fan. It's surprising how much the elimination of the water pump fan quiets the cab. 2. I installed a muffler. Later fearing the...

a couple questions about the deuce

First of all Speddmon thank you for giving me a pass on a clumsy attempt to broach a delicate subject. I rewrote the post so many times I almost gave up and erased it. Second, I don't know of any person, persons or group that are out to stop the government from selling MVs to civilians. Some...

Why are threads or posts erased?

Now I'm confused. Is the concern because I called jimk a scoundrel and a scallywag? If so, perhaps it's because you disagree about jimk being a scounderel OR a scallywag. If so, we could take a poll and straighten it out that way. In my humble opinion there may be a slight chance that he isn't...

    FDC bypass info (yes, again)

You guys may very well be right about the droop screw not needing to be adjusted when bypassing the fuel density compensator (FDC). The reason I brought it up is because when I received my LDT engine the FDC had been bypassed at the depot. Judging from the high exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs)...

    Power differences in my deuces?

What you're doing/suggesting makes more sense than that the TM calls for. Reducing the RPMs from 2,600 to 2,400 and 1,800 to 1,600 in low gear under full throttle with the brakes is really stressful.

    Power differences in my deuces?

I see where you were reading EGTs instead of boost pressure. This may be a more universal way, possibly even better method of testing. Also, where I may have experienced a lot more violent bucking may be in the fact that I was not only trying to hold the engine back with maximum fuel but also...

Why are threads or posts erased?

I just did a search of all of my previous posts and only found 500. Not knowing whether the remainder of my 952 posts are in the old site I pulled up Recovery 4X4s posts. He also only has 500 posts that are retreivable. Has something been set up that delets the oldest post after 500? If...

    Power differences in my deuces?

I found the thread that covered the tests I did last year. The TM is 9-2910-226-34. Here is a link to the page that tells about the tests: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/24388-ip-pump-calibration-economy-2.html I found these tests very difficult to do.

    Power differences in my deuces?

Have you tried this? I did a rolling "load" calibration test a year or so ago and found it next to impossible to hold the engine at a given RPM in high range on the transfer case. I can't imagine using low range. I can't find my old post which also gave the TM I followed but if memory...

    deuce ip head needed

Jeff --- Are you saying that the IP head causes the throttle to not completely release? My throttle hangs up every now and them. Nothing serious, it just doesn't want to idle down. I attributed the problem to a weak accelerator spring. An I getting ready to learn something here?

    FDC bypass info (yes, again)

Wouldn't it also be wise to turn down the droop screw setting? The droop screw controls fuel delivery from 0 to 1,600 RPM and the main fuel delivery controls delivery at 1,600 to red line. When I started turning down the fuel on my LDS engine I was only turning down the main delivery setting...

    It died, HELP

I don't think ether hurts 'em unless you give 'em so much they rattle. Both the multis I've had in my truck have been hard starters after they sit overnight. I don't mess around with prolonged cranking with the first start-up of the day anymore. I give it a "little" whiff with the ether shot and...
