I think I will go with common sence + saftey glasses in the shop while doing potentially hazardous things. Grinding or using a chopsaw for example.
I got a SAFTEY REMINDER of my own. Or a "don't be this guy" story. Guy was driving his Allis Chalmers 190 . Had the battery cover off of it...
You're probably right though to cover my back first before some phone calls get made.
It's a good idea to be in compliance with your truck for that reason AND simply because your truck will be much safer and more reliable. You could get pulled over by the DOT for a random inspection and...
From an all out business standpoint, I would think civy dump trucks might be the better way to go. Much nicer creature comforts, built tough yet much lighter enabling you to carry more payload legally. On all of the legalities like CDL requirement and licencing, truck inspections, ect. I would...
Welcome to SS. Your not too far from me. I am near Austin. After harvest , if you are ever out this way, stop on by. I like to tinker with MV's all winter.
I don't think that using 87 octane regular unleaded is going to hurt anything and a lead substitute for the soft valve seats would be a good idea. Here is what I would consider doing. Pull the head and plane it to increase the compression ratio. Get hardened seats installed. Just a top shelf...
The bleeders are quite often plugged. Plugged beyond using brake cleaner and compressed air sometimes. I like to run a drill bit in them to remove the debris. Bit needs to be smaller then the hole so you don't drill metal ofcourse. Then you can blow brake cleaner and compressed air through...
Gringeltaube definately did some top notched work on his power steering conversion. Last winter I unsuccessfully tried to get a few different companies to set up a ready to install hydraulic steering kit for the deuce. Not sure why they didn't go for it, but it just seems like it would be a good...
How many hours of sanding you suppose you have done on that animal? Looks like some good work of feathering out some bad spots (prob surface rust) and just roughing up the paint to hold the new coat. Nice project. I think its gonna look real good.
Ya. you can't go wrong with a MC replacement. You may have great luck by honing and kitting your old one, but they are not too expensive to replace and worth every penny. Once done, pressure bleed and bask in your solid brake peddle. . lol 99% sure
Don't need anything shipped that I can think of. Just wanted to post and let you know if you needed to use a shop facility for any reason I am about 135 miles south of tie6044's place. Good luck on the trip.
