You can change the dimmer switch without removing the column. The turn signal switch in the top of the column is easily done in the vehicle. Working on a GM column is pretty straightfirward, and even easier if it is not a tilt column.
The entire column is bolted to the firewall with...
I would take the 4 bolts out of the U-shpaed bracket bolted to the column that holds the column in place with the two nuts you removed and remove the bracket and then the steering column will spring down.
I have been in this area of the dash and column many times and occasionally there is a...
Agreed on the daily starting routine. I live in the chilly portion of NYS and start the truck probably once a month, or if I need to move it. Otherwise I leave it be. Why torture the old girl if she does not have to be stirred from a long winter's nap?????
I know mine will start at below...
Add an external cooler to your transmission and that should protect your tranny. That and intelligent operation.
A small V8 is fine for towing as long as you do not expect the rig to pull 14000 pounds.
Here is 250 on trailer

I would offer that if the key shears, the pulley can cause that kind of damage in just a short while. Could have been that the nut was not tight enough and allowed just a tiny bit of movement but that is all it would take.
Glad you got it before it came apart and took out the radiator.

one way to add airbags
As far as I have found Firestone is about the only manufacturer of air bags for the aftermarket. There may be others, and I would bet the others are using FIRESTONE air bag components anyways.
Here is the link to the PDF they have on how to install their kit. You may be...
Glad you made it home with the Burb. I have a 91 and it is the 350/4L80E 3/4 4x4 and I am well pleased with it. I went to Colorado Springs to get it and drove it home. Same problem, pounding front tires. Mine came over the mountains from a life in Southern CA so it had to have most of the rubber...
Hi Kip;
No doubt you would have to utilize the injector bore to access the combustion chamber. The trick is to have a gauge that reads upwards of 600 psi or so to get a reading and one that functions like a comrpession gauge would be most useful as it records the highest deflection.
Best of luck

I have heard of a compression testing kit that threaded into a glow plug home. I am not certain, but I would imagine that they must make a kit for non-glow plug trucks since it is really an essential test to determine the balance internally of an engine in terms of wear.
I would stop at a truck...
I prefer the marine two stroke oil because I believe it mixes better with the fuel up here in the cold. I would imagine that non marine oil mixes fine down south.
I did notice a distinct and audible difference in how my engine sounded and also a slightly smoother power curve with the marine...
If you care about keeping your motor together in your deuce you will not drive it pegged on the governor. That is a sure fire way to throw a rod.
I have been told by some sage members here that about 2200 is where you want to be on the road with RPMs. This puts a deuce on stock 9x20's at about...
The process that creates the ULSD destroys the lubricating properties of Diesel Fuel and they discovered this in preliminary fleet testing by screwing up newer style injector pumps. They add a lubricant to the fuel when it is blended to help correct this problem. This would verify in my mind...
I would not connect the air pig to the system, but instead get a glad hand for the rear and if you want the extra air storage, connect that to the air pig and then to the air tool of choice. The air line running to the rear is large enough to feed a big impact, but the limitation of the system...
The slobber tube really only vents either with an engine that has been idling way too much or else an engine that has lots of blowby on the rings. Yours is not venting and is not leaking which is good.
The coolant smell can literally be a few drops oozing out of a hose, or slightly loose...
Lisa, you need a shortwave radio or a ham radio. You can find something to listen to pretty much anytime of day and just listening does not require a large antenna at all. I use a 102" whip for my Ham rig for listening and for upper frequency work. That seems to get the job done nicely, and I...
