The 86 M1008 will need a rear receiver hitch. The heaviest load it'll have to pull is a tandem axle 20ft trailer with a 5500lb tractor on it. Are Draw-Tite units the best or is there a better option?
Any ideas what broke?? I didn't think a 14 bolt FF would break like this. Right away I noticed there's hardly any fluid in the differential.... and yes I noticed the leaf spring. Glad I was very close to the house!!
The 86 M1008 I recently bought has a Vintage Air AC kit on it. Once I got the truck home and running, I discovered the air controls for the heater and defroster were never hooked up. If anyone here has the kit, were the controls behind the dash any different than a factory set up? I need to get...
After a recent round trip in the M1008 that involved some interstate time, I'm thinking of throwing a set of 37's on. I like the 35's I currently have on the truck, but I felt like I was going to get ran over while going 56-57mph on the highway.
I'm not going to swap out the T400, so it's...
Brought an 86 M1008 back to the house that had been sitting in a field for about two years. The previous owner mentioned someone dumped sugar in the tank and he was going to part it out. Well I put new batteries in to see what worked and what didn't and much to my surprise it fired right up. I...
FINALLY got the extended rear bumper with a recessed mount Warn XD9000 mounted to the M1008 today. Had to do a lil trimming on the bumper to make it fit, but now it's on there. All I have to do now is get it wired in. Btw, it took 4 grown men to pick up the bumper w/winch and move it to the rear...
Just curious how much weight y'all can safely pull with an M1008/28. I had to go pick up a 20ft steel trailer with a wood bed and while my truck isn't equipped for electric trailer brakes, I didn't notice any difference in stopping power. Take off speed was like a 3 legged turtle, but once I...
..... or lack of :D
Just curious what some of y'all are getting for fuel mileage from your CUCV. My M1008 with 35's gets 17-18mpg on the highway running 55-57mph. Stop n go driving while running errands it just drinks fuel... 10-11mpg. That sound normal?
I'm sure this been discussed many times... lol
Thinking about a Spartan locker for the M1008 for the Dana 60. Factory steering and 35's.... nothing extreme. Any pros and cons?
Since the M1008 is going to need new springs, I'm considering a 2in lift to go with the 35in KM2's on 16x8(4in backspacing). Will I need extended brake lines?
I'm sure this has been covered many times here...... I'm wanting to run 35's on my M1008. Since the truck already sits higher than my K10 and K20 from the factory, can I get away with a 1in add a leaf(easy inch) and a lil minor fender trimming with a 16x8 wheel 4in offset and still have enough...
Finally joined the CUCV club the other day.... 1985 M1008 that was later used by one of our local police departments hence the paint, civilian grill, fender emblems and chrome mirrors.
