Between Nashville and Memphis last week I saw four big green vehicles on the backs of low boys. They looked like a bigger version of the 4 wheel drive construction site forklifts as pictured below. The big difference is that instead of forks on the end, it had some sort of very large device on...
Just got to install the PTO and change a seal in the winch.
Specs: 1972 AM General. Started as a dropside (anyone need a dropside bed? Cheap!). Stock non-whistler engine.
Frame shortened 38".
Suspension and bed and partial frame (to raise the rear end 5") from an M105A2.
That plasma...
I need a drag brake adjusting screw. If you don't have an extra, I would appreciate it if you could take yours out and then photograph it next to a tape measure. Several views would be nice. I think I can make one on my lathe.
I have been used to being ripped off at the hardware stores for grade 8 bolts but just on a whim, I went to Tractor Supply Company and got grade 8 bolts, nuts and washers for $3.99 per POUND, regardless of the size. So instead of giving a buck or two for EACH bolt, get them by the pound for TSC.
Okay, I have the tandems out from under the deuce and the frame shortened.
How much do I need to lengthen the driveshaft?
By my measurements, the center of the M105 wheelwell is about 61 1/2" from the front of the bed and the front axle on the tandem was about 57" from the front of the bed...
Just got a cheap 50 amp plasma cutting torch to cut on the deuce and tried it out. It is DA BOMB! After cutting through 1/2" steel plate with almost no effort, I just stood there and grunted like Tim The Tool Man Taylor. My wife wasn't as impressed, but she hasn't sweated and grunted to cut...
She ain't pretty, but she looks to be complete and she has a winch! The winch will go nice on my A2C.
Update! I got the SF-97 in the mail TODAY, just 4 days after I bought it. And I didn't have to pay anything for it! I'll never deal with GL again.
I put them in the Classified section but I don't think it gets much traffic.
CUCV (M1008A1) parts for sale - Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite
Some of you may know about this already but I didn't find it on a search. There is a website UGCSurvival.com Main Page where you can download TM's for various vehicles including Deuces and CUCVs and others. Registration is free as are downloads.
Coming back to Nashville that Friday. I'll have a minivan that has the seats removed and is already dirty. Route will be I-75 to Louisville and I-65 home.
If you have something that you want shipped for free and can meet me at the hotel, I'll be glad to haul it and store it for you...
And insptected trucks for SOMEBODY, but I forgot who. PM me you bought an M1009 4107-3655 and some deuces.
For some reason I felt the need to inspect 4107-3679 but no one asked me to. If you bought that truck, PM me and I'll give you the quick and dirty on it.
Anyway, they have got a self...
I am parting out a M1008 because the engine is blown. Can I use the power steering pump and lower unit on a deuce or is the unit just not heavy duty enough?
I picked up 4 M35A2C's today. Since they were mislabeled as M35A2's and you had to look at the pics really hard, I think that most people missed them. I plan on parting out one truck. Anyone want a drop side bed?
Anybody here get one of the trucks with MG mounts?
I had to replace the starter because it had a bad solenoid (the freaking solenoid was $175!) so I replaced the starter and converted the truck over to 12v, too, and got a lifetime warranty on the starter.
The starter spins fine and I figured that I would rather let someone else reap the...
Okay, I have a bad solenoid on my starter. I took the starter out and used a set of jumper cables to hook up the starter. When I shorted the Batt terminal to the big starter terminal, the motor spun, but when I shorted a screwdriver across the small starter terminal, it did nothing. Bad...
Won an M1008A1 for $840 because there was only one pic of the engine, none of the body. I was wondering if anyone could swing by and take a pic or two of Event Id 3524 — Lot Number 3438.
Last week I noticed a tractor stuck in a fellows garden. Not wanting to be too forward, I waited a couple of days to see if he managed to get it out himself, but it was STUCK! Sunk all the way down to the axles. So I stopped by the fellow's house and left a note in the door saying that I...
Okay, I changed the gear lube back to 80W/90) because I had put 90W/140 in it and it was much too thick) and drove the truck a few laps around the block.
The transmission is hard to get into gear and shifts poorly. It acts as though the clutch isn't fully disengaged, so I adjusted the clutch...
