Just out of curiosity, is it generally illegal to have a weapon real or fake mounted like that and drive it? I don't at this point ever plan to do that, but I don't see where it would be illegal if you don't have anyone in the back while your driving it. I'm sure it's a social faux pas though...
Got the PM, will call you tomorrow. Monday the 9th works perfect for me.
Anyone with some experience with the Piper Cub, does it have a 12gal fuel tank? Does the L4 have the same PLUS an 8gal wing tank?
I've seen some conflicting info on this and would like to get it straightened out. I...
Well I just got off the phone with Allmond Aviation here in Peoria, and they do have a tail wheel trainer. It's a 1946 Aeronca Champ, pretty close to the Piper Cub, so I'm going to make a point to get the cert. on that and lots of flight time with it as well as the others.
I found some online...
Thanks DKELONE, I've not asked the local schools at Mt. Hawley if they have tail wheel trainers or not, but I will ask. I know it's expensive to get the training. I work at CAT fulltime on the weekends and any money I make at the airport will be extra to go towards lessons and other toys. I'm...
Now to get back on topic before being RUDELY interrupted...
rwbrown, you mentioned your an instructor and some of you others have flown/have licenses. What tips and tricks can you give for a prospective pilot? I'm passing all this information on to my buddy as well who is doing the same thing...
Thanks for the info guys. RW i was really joking about that, I would never do such a hair-brain thing like landing on a street or something like they do in the movies. I spoke with my supervisor at work and CAT may reimburse me for some of the lessons under their higher learning policy which...
Alright thanks flyxpl, when I make my flight plan I will call ahead. I think I may be able to do all this next year (thats my preliminary plan) I have Scooter scoping out the GA rally (if I can't make it) to see if there is enough flat land to do a short landing and take off, or if the road is...
So bored at work... just read all thirty pages.
I'm so excited, but I may not have an MV at that time (small chance I won't) is there a place to part non-MV vehicles? My malibu won't fit in, although it's already spray painted flat black, and I may go ahead and CARC it :D
Thats what I thought too. The view (based on YouTube vids) looks just incredible. And I hear they are excellent planes for beginners like me and seasoned pilots alike. I don't know if you have to pay to land, that would be the only draw back for me is having to pay at every airport along the...
Thanks for all the great info. Seems to me that they go for about 44k in a restored condition. To bad the crate planes aren't available anymore :D Those are some pretty neat stories. I am about 6' 1" tall, do you think i'll fit ok in the plane? I know they are small for sure, and I dont mind...
Have any of you ever flown or been around the older Piper Grasshoppers? They were also known as Piper Cubs. They used them in WWII and Korea (maybe Vietnam?) as artillery spotters/light transports/ect.
Myself and a friend are getting part time jobs in addition to working at CAT at the local...
