If all goes well, I should have a new in-tank pump and new primary filter for tomorrow. (fingers crossed) If not, I do have an inline electric fuel pump a friend had/gave me today to try and use to get it running.
Once I can get the fuel pushed up and out of the tank, what is the proper...
3 deg today, 22 deg tomorrow and 43 on Friday. So tomorrow I'll gather the stuff up needed to do what Doghead recommended, which seems like the best plan. Then On Friday (above freezing) I'll see if I can get it up and running and back home.
Checked oil, coolant and brake fluid levels, and did a look over while she was warming up. Did not put a gauge on the tires, none looked low, and had never had to add air to them since I had them.... yes I know, no excuse.... Fuel gauge read 1/4 tank, which should have been plenty to roll the...
My brother had 4 gallon of gasoline in a can for his snow blower in the back of his truck. We dumped that and the three quarts of oil he had also, in the tank just to see if the fuel level made a difference.
Even with that, nothing came out the primary filter.
I took my Deuce out from the barn, for a drive, for the first time from sitting from a five month slumber. (40 deg. out, warmest so far this year) It started right up, as soon as I hit the starter button. Drove it to my shop (10 miles) with out a problem. Parked it inside (72 deg.) while I...
lol... this post goes back a ways. The "SS search feature" really does work. I made a dozen of the top and rear winch plates about a month ago, same 11 gauge material. And I do have a few extras not spoken for yet. So yes, your in luck....
You have the room.....and it will cost you no extra money. If I were you, I'd add a gusset to add some strength. You used square tube to lengthen correct? Lots-o stress will be exerted on them bottom welds of the steering arm. Not saying yours will break, but it never hurts to over build.
airborne,
I'm pleased to hear that your trip went well. It's something that your daughter will remember for the rest of her life, that you and her did together. Sounds like quite the trip. And thanks again for bringing/transporting and dropping off the 16.00 XZL tires for me. I really do...
Lots of snow with Ice underneath, up this way. 13 deg. today in West Michigan here, with the windchill in the negative numbers. Drive safe, and keep it on the road.
Picture's from today... it's a little different than your Texas departure picture. :-O
airborne,
Short notice I know. But I sent you a PM on transporting some tires from Texas to Michigan with the SS Express... If it does work out, then great. If not, either way have a safe and enjoyable trip.
ps. if you can't bring the tires, at least bring some of the Texas warm weather with...
I installed a hard top and changed the canvas seats out in my Deuce. I so miss the smell whenever I climb in it now. That smell your experiencing is, true military truck..... enjoy it.
