I would anchor the hook to a tree with a tow rope or chain and remove the shackle pin if you can. If you have access to a tree on a bit of an incline so you can slowly roll backwards and use the weight of the vehicle to anchor it, that would be even better.

The cable is NOT the winch cable. But it is the same thickness. Yeah, the deuce broke that rusty cable pretty easily. I wish I had a video, but I honestly did NOT expect the event to be anything dramatic. I wasn't even sure I'd get the stump out, nevermind half of the earth coming with it.

The end result was pretty good although I need a few more tons of stone.
