The Sheridan tank is definitely the M551. M155 referring to the Sheridan must be a typo. There was a M115 8" howitzer, but it was a towed artillery piece. Hope that helps.
That M38 is shaping up very nicely. I envy some of those tools you have - like the plasma cutter! Hope the restoration continues to go well for you. Can't wait to see what she will look like when you are done.

I checked out the M38 - the vehicle data plate shows that dimension as 57" - also measured front of the M38 with tape measure - and sure enough it's 57" from outside of tire to outside of tire. Hope that's what you needed.
