    Please help identify this trailer

Looks like an M332 ammo trailer, missing the box on the tongue though.

    The 250 Gallon Mini Pumper

Looking at the details in the TM, it's just a regular 6.2 equipped civilian spec truck. It's unusual that there's a proper TM for it, but it's not 24v, and has none of the other CUCV features. It's not really related to the CUCV any more than any other civilian squarebody is. There's so many...

    CUCV weird engine noise

I had a similar noise I was chasing a while back, mine ended up being that the nut holding the top of the power steering pump bracket had worked loose and gone missing, and the top of the PS pump bracket was rattling against the engine block. Worth checking your accessory brackets.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

One of the exhaust tips fell off my M1008 a while back. I'm probably going to replace the whole system at some point, as it's pretty horrible, but for now I just ordered some cheap bends and tubing and welded up a new end for it. Didn't turn out too bad, I don't think. My brother and I also...

    Power steering bleeding issues

Thanks, I will keep the advice for replacing the pump in mind but it seems we may not need it. I'd read that letting it sit overnight helped, and sure enough my brother tried it again this morning and he's been able to bleed it and get it working normally now. He hasn't said it's making any...

    Power steering bleeding issues

There's none of those this side of the atlantic, unfortunately. I ordered one that should hopefully fit, and it should be here this week.

    Power steering bleeding issues

My brother was driving at the time, he says he had it at full lock and bumped a curb or something, but who knows. I ordered a replacement pump with the lines just in case, so I'll get that swapped over. Shame I didn't have the foresight to order the tools to remove/install the pulley, too.

    Power steering bleeding issues

My brother was driving the M1008 last week, and it blew a power steering hose. I don't know exactly how or why, but the hoses are probably 40 years old so it's not entirely surprising. He had to drive it about a mile or two back home after it blew and it lost a load of fluid. I ordered some...

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

Finally had the time to look at the truck again today, and it is indeed an M8 x 1.5 nut. That's one less noise to worry about.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

Strange that it's not in the book, I forgot that the regular part number is just a GM part number and you can look those up and found it immediately. It's been a while since I've had to try to find anything using those numbers.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

I have been reliably informed that they're M10x1.5. Didn't expect them to be metric, but there you go. I have some of those lying around so I'll update this post later this week if it fits.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

You are correct, it's an M1008. I appreciate the advice, but it's not terribly helpful as you're telling me that I need to search for the part that doesn't have an NSN. Both of those nuts thread onto the same stud, so either one would be functionally identical. I can't order either of them via...

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

Ok, but what is nut number 2? The TMs aren't particuarily useful in this instance because all they say is "NUT", and you can't just plug the NSN into google and buy a handful. I can't even find civilian pump bracket mounting hardware for sale.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

This is all from TM 9-2320-289-34P. If #3 is for the M1010 only then it can safely be ignored, I've already tried looking up the NSN for #4, but I couldn't find anything particuarily useful.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

I got my TMs from the forum, there's only one diagram in them for the bracket and it doesn't specify if it's for the M1010 or otherwise, but that's good to know. The bigger problem is still what kind of nut it's meant to be.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

    Nope, M1008.

    Power steering pump bracket hardware

I noticed today I'm missing the nuts that hold the top of my power steering pump bracket on. The parts list in the TMs just describes them as "nut", and searching the NSNs and part numbers don't get me anything either. Anyone know what size/thread they're meant to be? The TM also shows two...

M1008 crank no start, might be the IP?

If it had jumped time, wouldn't it still be injecting, just on the wrong part of the stroke? I'm getting no fuel to the injectors at all. I found a local diesel place that can recondition the pump, so I'm going to pull it out and get them to take a look at it tomorrow.

M1008 crank no start, might be the IP?

My M1008 died last week, I'd taken it on a trip a couple of weeks ago and it had been sitting since then. My brother went to pick it up last friday so we could do some maintenance before taking it on another trip, and it made it about 20ft before it died and would not restart. Did try to...

Welding safely on a 24V CUCV

I already called it the ground, so we're on the same page. Any time I'm welding the ground clamp is as close to what I'm welding as possible, on an area that's been stripped back to bare metal for good contact. That's not an issue at all. I'm more concerned about what to do with the batteries...
