Not really done anything 'to' it, but I don't know if we have a general pics thread or forum anywhere, so please excuse if this is in the wrong place.
Took the 1008 to Norfolk this past weekend for a meetup with my re-enactment group at a tank museum. The truck will be part of our display this...
That's good to know, the shape made me think it actually did something but I couldn't find anything describing it. I'll just run my new hoses straight to the valve. Thanks!
Got a hard shifting issue so I took a look at my vacuum lines and found a couple of likely culprits, some rotten hoses and this thing that connects to the vacuum valve on the IP. But the question is, what is it?
The TM helpfully just lists it as 'adapter' and, the NSN turns up nothing...
Recieved a package from Germany this morning, the final piece of the puzzle has arrived. Thanks again, Guyfang!
I thought it might be interesting to compare it against the strap I made to mock things up using the measurements cjcottrill provided, and it actually wasn't far off. I would've...
I've recently done this, as I needed to order new bolts for my cargo top kit. Some of the websites you can punch the NSNs into will often list the specifications for the parts, but their databases seem very patchy and incomplete. I ended up just measuring and checking the bolts I was trying to...
I've yet to try the second set of holes, but if it still doesn't fit with those then i'll definitely be making a new set of struts. The cover and cargo frame were basically free as they were just thrown in with the truck when I bought it, as long as I can make it work I can live with the...
I think I've solved this mystery, I ran the P/N a while back and knew my cover is for an M880, but I didn't check the frame. I ran the numbers on the parts, and they're for a CUCV. I guess the M880 cover is a bit taller?
I wasn't sure if the cover and frame were bought separately by the...
Interesting, I'll have to inspect the pin holes in mine to see if I can work out which are the originals and which might be extra. They both looked about right to me at a glance, so I thought nothing of it.
Update: I checked, and I'm not sure. I'd assume the holes with the stamped indents are...
That looks great, I'm getting close to finishing off my cargo cover, just waiting on paint and some small parts at the moment.
Do you have your bows pinned in the first or second holes? I had mine in the first holes when I mocked it up, and it seemed a bit soggy.
Great to hear, my 100mph taped strap survived the mockup but came to peices as I was putting it down. Looking forward to having the real thing so I can finish it off.
I made a little more progress today. The two rails for the front of the bed that came with my pile of parts were a bit mangled...
I think I might've seen those, but the price was a bit of a turnoff. If you can afford it and want to keep it all original they're a much better option than what I went with.
Thanks. I did a lot of looking around, but it seems the original style with the single stud machine screw style thread are only available as surplus. The only commercial ones I could find are either a single wood screw or the two hole variety, so I just grabbed a bag of the two hole ones off of...
My brother came over and helped me drill the holes for all my new turnbuttons, riveted them in, and we put it all together for a test fit on the truck.
The measurements on that strap I made seemed to be close enough, and the 100mph tape even held together well enough to hold the weight of...
I’ve already mostly finished the one I was making, but it would be nice to have an original.
If you’d be willing to buy it and ship it to the UK, I’d be interested to know how much it might cost. A ballpark figure would be fine but I can DM you the address if you want to work it out exactly...
The NSN is 2540-01-192-4479. Here’s the link to the German store page. Its about $30, which is an entirely reasonable price for a part that’s pretty much unobtainable elsewhere.

That might be an option I look into if mine doesn't pan out, but the material I've got was free, so I figue i'll try working with what I've got before sinking any more money into this project. The material's a bit too thick for my sewing machine, but I doubt it'll cost much to get it sewn up...
Perfect, thank you.
The guy who I bought my truck off threw in a bunch of parts, including a roll of strap material that I think he was going to use for the same job. Should be more than long enough to make that out of.
I'm working on restoring the cargo cover frame that came with my truck, it's mostly complete, just missing all of the straps. I've found some that work for the four corners, but the top strap is giving me some issues. I've got the part number, but the only place that I can find one for sale is a...
To cut a very long story short and gloss over a lot of rookie troubleshooting efforts, we put the original 'good' relay back in, and installed the new GP control card. It didn't fix it.
Now armed with slightly more of an idea of what we were doing than the first time, we re-tested the original...
