Re: RE: M1008 Diesel Gas Cap - Want Locking Gas Cap
Give me a bit and I'll post pics of the mods I did to my fuel filler door on my Ramcharger. A locking cap is useless since all it takes is a big screwdriver to pop one. I think popping the door would create a bit more noise and hassle than...
Well unless you are carrying heavy loads off road, the extra axle is really unnecessary. Plus it's more tires, bearings and brakes to worry about and without the last axle you get a better turning radius and a smaller truck. It's the way to go for people who just want a bigger pickup truck and...
Hmm, looks like a normal HMMWV with a different front end, wheels, flares and slightly different doors. I wonder what engine was in them. The only reason I can think of putting on a bigger front clip is to house a bigger engine, ala M35A3.
RE: astute people
I was going to ask about the Electonic Arts logo, lol. I personally would go for 3 color NATO, but the older 4 color looks good too. Here are a few examples:
Alright, enough of the brand beating. We all have our chosen brand and we all think they are best for various reasons. Keep it to yourself as it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Geez.
I'd be more concerned about the factory hitch's rating than the pintle's. Not to mention the Dodge does not have anywhere near the braking ability to handle 13k lbs of rolling weight pushing it.
Here's a thread with some info on the differences between the Powerchoke and the T444E.

In Virginia we can carry in the open and when I first bought my S&W .357 Mag, I asked a State Police Trooper what to do when stopped. He told me to place it on the dash, in plain view of the officer before he walks up, and to put my hands on the steering wheel at 9 & 3, and immediately inform...
Ok, I have a question. On many of these I see a little antenna looking thing on the edge of the fender beside of the headlamp with a little ring at the end. Is that some sort of guide or something?
RE: strange truck....
I wouldn't. Inevitably you will end up picking the front wheels off the ground and losing traction. These setups aren't used today since they didn't work real well in the first place. The best thing to do is improve the approach angle by either shortening the frame...
Ok, I'll bite. What's it do? Climb stairs? I for the life of me can't quite understand what they are trying to do with that design. I'm sure it's something I haven't thought of and that's why it seems so weird to me.
Not to put you down or anything but the TM says to keep the tow bar as short as possible. In the extended position, the towbar has about 1/4 of its capacity that it would have in the retracted position. I also think that a second driver is recommended by either a TM or a bulletin in PS...
Buy new U-bolts. They stretch when torqued and you cannot reuse them. NAPA should be able to get you new ones for a good price, just take the measurements of the old ones. The biggest pain about swapping a rear axle for another one is the E-brake cables, everything else is cake.
RE: M113 or M114
Considering the M35 TM lists the maximum towed load at 6k lbs and the M113 weighs in at 25k lbs combat weight, I'd definitely look at a 5 ton tractor as a tow vehicle. The M114A1 is a little lighter at 15k lbs combat weight.
