When I made a living as a heavy equipment mechanic for a large construction company back in the late 70's to early 80's all the Cat equipment, from the little D3/931 up to the d9's, 631/637 pans and everything in the middle used 10 weight motor oil for the hydraulics. Not sure what they use now...
I also just print what I need and take out with me while doing the work. I don't have to think twice about them getting trashed because I just toss them and print new when needed.
