I've seen a few LDT engines with a listed 140HP listed on the engine tag. In fact I own one.
A couple different examples. Both of these engines were in deuce dumps.

It should be a good fit. A lot of the "Little Debbie" trucks were equipped with 4BT's in front of T400 transmissions.
While not a BT series engine, this little Cummins will work it's way into a Ferd Ranger with a 5 speed behind it sometime in the future.

I had read somewhere the M54A1 designation was given to the Mack powered units in June 1962. This upgrade didn't last much more than a year as it was decided further upgrades would receive the LDS-465-1a multifuel.
