what a vehicle
That is amazing. Glad it stayed in the family. What an awesome restoration job. Hope you keep posting pics of it.
I would keep it in trailer-queen condition, only off road would be on grass : )
transition
Somebody can correct me with the exact info ...
This has been in the news here in our community for about 2 yrs. The unit is moving from Ft. Hood to Ft. Carson to be with the rest of their divisions already here. I cant keep the numbers straight but Ft. Carson soldier population is...
"when its cold it smokes blue smoke pretty good, but in the last 2 weeks of having it, the oil level hasnt droped one bit"
Mine does the same thing, I figure it is unburned diesel fuel, till the cylinders
get a little warmed-up and ya get better combustion. I let mine warm up about 5 to 10...
There is one on static display at the Museum of Trasportation in St. Louis, MO
Sorry could not find pics but here are the specs.
UNION PACIFIC #90081

ear muffs
I use some Winchester-labled shootin ear muffs, headset thingy I got for cheap at Walmart. Hugely reduces noise and I could hear what my passenger was saying to me while driving down the highway. As far as listening for sirens, I just swivel my head around alot and check the mirrors...
Dirt 71,
Are you going to start a '10 ton Museum'?
Best of luck to you, those things look great and I/we greatly appreciate
all the info and pics you have posted .
Very interesting to look at that stuff.
That Vanetta's brothers site is great stuff, read that years ago.
Anyone know...
France in the game
Welcome Heramoth. Hope you are able to obtain a military vehicle soon.
Pardon my stupidity if I have this wrong, but from what I see up on YouTube, I ask this question... are military vehicle collector groups as big as they seem, as in Britain and Germany? Just kind of...
GEICO for my daily driver - 4Runner
Gulfway for my deuce - $200 a yr.
Ditto what Davesgmc said.... be totally honest with your insurance company for your regular vehicles too. I work in the Total Loss dept at Ford Motor Credit, we see claims denied once in awhile for stuff...
insurance
.... if this helps anyone.... I use Gulfway for $200 a year and it appears they then are subbing out through Travelers or somebody by what I saw on the paperwork (so I feel like it is legit ins). I had to fill out a lot of questions about the vehicle as if it were a collector car or...
it happened to me
I locked myself out about a month ago. To
get back in, I pulled the top of the side window outward and used a straightened wire hanger, no problem. I always keep the passenger side locked and I guess I bumped the driver's side inside handle down, when I got out.
pump
I think if you pull the whole assembly out, you will find that the pump height is adjustable, it is able to be tightned down at different heights along 2 or 3 ? vertical 'rails' it is mounted in. I remember seeing somebody work on this. So you should be able to loosen up some screws...
Red
Congrats! Nice truck! Would make a very good parade vehicle, find a group to
haul in the back, in parades.
On the air issue. I drain my tanks after every use of the truck.
You would be surprised how much mositure comes out the drains
even after just running it for half an hour out here...
Pros of having a deuce........others in traffic, look at you with concerned looks (kinda funny). Anywhere you go, vets walk up to you and tell you stories. If you can get into parades or events, like displays and airshows, etc. you really get lots of people coming to you with questions. It...
