I would tend to agree that at least part of your problem is fuel filters. If there was much crud/sludge in the tank the fresh fuel will tend to cut it loose and plug up the primary filter located under the alternator pretty quick. As to the "POP" and the white smoke coming out the draft tube...
As glcaines indicated the label refers to Fuel Density Compensator, In the red circle, It was used to control maximum fuel delivery depending on the type of fuel being used. I have the same warning on mine.
Congratulations on the deuce purchase. Sounds like you have a good truck there. Nice to hear you are going through the TM's and giving it a good check. I know the feeling about the shift pattern I have had mine several years and still miss the 3 ~ 4 shift every now and again and end up in 5th...
You might want to post a classified in the "Parts Wanted" section and see if you could pickup a good used gate. Sounds like yours needs a little more than just some TLC.
Generally you don't want to run a diesel for extended periods with no load. It causes a condition called wet stacking and will cause accelerated wear and carbon build up. That being said the air cooled engines on the MEP-002 and 003 are not as prone to this because even the no load cylinder temp...
That is correct. I will open the circuit breaker on my 003 and just let it run at the set 60Hz speed for about 5 minutes before shut down after I have been running with a load on it. You should set the speed control for 60Hz and if all is working correctly you really don't need to touch it again.
You can try placing a "Parts wanted" thread in the classifieds. There have been quite a few members upgrade to the spin on filters so there should be some of those cups laying around in some parts collections. Also you might try some dealers like the following.

You will need both in the long run. The Mr Fusion is the only reliable consumer style fusion generator that can produce the required 1.21 gigawatts to power the flux capacitor.
Welcome to the site Craig. Yes some of the folks do drive their MV's to the breakfast. Sometimes just 1 or 2 will be there and other times 6 ~7 + could be there. I would like to bring my deuce one time but I haven't screwed up the nerve to go that far with it yet.
Also don't forget that if the bushing in the spindle is worn it will not support the stub shaft correctly and that can lead to the axle shaft moving radially enough that the seal can't make up for the movement. This can also happen if the "U" joint has much play in it. 2cents
:) I had a couple very slight seeps when I got the truck. The front valve cover gasket and the draft tube adapter on top of the valve covers seeped also. I replaced the gaskets for those but I need to replace that short fuel hose in the picture because it seeps ever so slightly. I have a...
Looking up from below the injector pump there are 2 oil feed lines indicated with the red arrows in the first picture. The line indicated on the right side of picture 1 is the feed from the engine and is connected to the block at the point indicated by the red arrow in picture 2. Hope this helps.
Welcome to the site gentlemen from another subject of the Peoples Republic of Maryland. There is a lot of good information on the site. There is a breakfast every 2nd Saturday of the month in Eldersburg which is coordinated buy a fellow member, Robert, AKA m816 someday. A good place to meet...
Maybe the access cover for the arming driver associated with the radial hyper drive distribution selector for the Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator. Just a guess. :)
