    Mississippi recovery gone BAD!

RE: Re: RE: Mississippi recovery gone BAD! This has o be the most useless thread ever. Why post tiny bits of a story at all?

    Engine problem

The bluish smoke is most likely burnt oil. Now how that oil is getting into the cylinder is a matter of speculation. A burnt exhaust valve might give a popping sound (especially when decelerating), but it wouldn't cause oil to get into the cylinder. I would look for a bent push rod or a broken...

Veggie oil way up in price....

RE: Re: RE: Veggie oil way up in price.... Here is an excellen synopsis of everything that is wrong with using our food to make fuel. Fuel or folly? Ethanol and the law of unintended consequences http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/gate/archive/2008/04/02/cstillwell.DTL In the...

How unwanted is the crap you get from GL?

The trucks I just drove home last week had been auctioned once before. They just marked out the old event number with a magic marker and put a new one one.

    Batteries

RE: Re: Batteries Search the site for Interstate batteries before you buy them. Their warranty sucks. I went to China Mart (Walmart) and saw betteries with 850 CCA for $69 each. The batteries in the truck now are rated at just 875 CCA. I figure that they will be a decent replacement.

Things that came with the Deuce

I got a 12 ton bottle hydraulic jack, three 5 gallon water jugs, and wheel chocks.

    Goodyear Tread Pattern

Directional tires usually have an arrow to designate the direction. At least motorcycle tires do.

    Batteries

RE: Re: RE: Batteries Looking down from the top, the batteries are two squares beside each other. As you look down, the negative post is in the lower left corner, the positive is in the upper right corner. There is a connector cable that is commonly called a "dogbone" because of it's shape...

    Batteries

Yes. Get the biggest Wally World batts you can find and they will still be smaller than the military batteries. Use 2X4's and other pices of scrap wood to keep them in place. Also, pay attention to battery post placement and try to get batts with a similar pattern.

cant stop, goes right to the floor

Basic brake lesson. Brakes work on the principle of the incompressibility of liquids. Your master cylinder is nothing more than a piston with rubber seals that push brake fluid down a small line which causes other pairs of pistons that are attached to the brake shoes on each wheel to move...

    Overpriced Junk Yard Finds

Sounds like that guy goes by the "Golden Crap" rule. If he owns it and wants to sell it, it's golden. If you own it and want to sell it, it's crap. I simply refuse to deal with a--holes like that. Tell him he can either sell it for a fair price keep his junk until it rusts back into the earth.

    Tennessee. Alabama, Georgia Rally?

Snow in Tennessee? Yea, but you have to be quick because the snow usually only lasts about half a day.

    Tennessee. Alabama, Georgia Rally?

Anybody up for a weekend rally in southern Tennessee at a place called Wooly's Off Road park? The price is right for admission, only $10/day for ages 16 and older. They have a website that indicates the place is closed for environmental repairs, whatever that means, and will open up in a few...

    Me 262 Flies again!

Re: RE: Me 262 Flies again! Even with the engines thy had, they were 120 mph faster than anything out there. Hitler was the undoing of the program as he insisted that the Me 262 be used as a bomber.

    centrifuge.....

I am going to use either a high quality SS pan or a pressure cooker. I like the pressure cooker because the lid locks onto the pot and seals the edge.. I also have a 14" lathe where I can easily mount the lid to cut the hole perfectly concentric and put the hole in the exact center of the pan...

    M818 1,200 miles and home

Re: RE: M818 1,200 miles and home Yep. It is a matter of getting acclimated. I slept under the water brakes for the forward catapults on an aircraft carrier. If you want to know what a catapult hitting the water brake sounds like, imagine someone standing on the floor above you, picking up a...

    centrifuge.....

I'm not going to spin it so fast I have to worry about it exploding. I figure a washing machine motor will do nicely. My biggest worry is about making a huge mess.
