We had a plastic return line wear through and was blowing fuel on the turbo housing. The huge cloud of white smoke rolling out from under the truck and all the gaps in the hood had me pretty nervous. I was glad to see it quit smoking. I am fairly certain it was a spark away from being very...

Perfect application for this great truck!
Brake drums are gone, you have the ones you can find. Brake shoes are gone, save yours and find a shop that still rivets on linings....
I had three, I used them as mainline transportation for a few years. One had a great running 230 in it, for some reason, it had good power, never blew the rear main seal and never threw a rod.
The one I drove the most had a 305 Chevrolet that I put in using the Novak Conversion. I used a...
Wow! Three posts and you are already in trouble? Too many requests? Just laying down the law early? I suppose one of these days I will come home to a pile of RC cars in the lawn and my CUCVs parked in the street.
I think my current wife listened when I told her the last one gave me until noon...
Those old 4x4 Suburbans were awesome. I had a 1964, always wish I had kept it. 6 cylinder 4 speed, divorced transfer case, 3.73 axles. It was a nice smooth running old Chevrolet!
I know they are a lot of work and if you do not like to work on vehicles, I am sure they will be very expensive to drive. If you never spent much time around a bare bones military vehicle, I suggest you spend some time in one. There just is not much forgiving inside of one. Failure to strap...
We rolled a plate and hung the winch upside down. I had to do a little bumper trimming and mounted it in some original holes. It worked slick, I did not really care for the fair lead, if I had it to do over again, I would have invested in that non metallic cable and used a standard fair lead. I...
I am experiencing that now, so I called a friend, he says sticking injectors...mine also smokes heavily at idle and is using a lot more fuel.... he recommended trying Sea Foam and two cycle engine oil in the fuel. I fed her a quart of both last night and she was much better today, but I have not...
I guess I failed to answer the basic question, I would do the M1009 with a trailer. Highway speeds, good economy, haul about anything the pickup can and room for the dogs inside. I really do not need the heavy duty 4x4 pickup with my 91W350 Dodge Cummins 5 speed 4x4 single rear wheel hanging...
I tell myself I do not need to be insuring five vehicles, but I have a hard time letting one go. I have 2 M1009s and have one out for an extended test drive. It is a great running truck and I offered it to him for a fair price, but I really do not care if he buys it. He is a fellow member and...
I had a date with a blond last night..... not so sure about the hottie part though..... I sure did not take the invitation to jump in the tub... it was about 44 degrees on the outside.....
I think a set of M1028 axles will bring most of your money back. They are getting easier to buy, but for a while a set of axles out of one of these was bringing around 1500 dollars. You would not have to sell much more than that to get your money back....
