Photos of the wheels would help... M916 never came with Super Singles but Hemmit/5-ton/FMTV Super singles will all fit on a M916 with modification to the 916's front brake drum.

Mudflaps are only required when the rear most axle has MORE than 2 wheels. So no flaps required when running singles in Texas.

Not sure if this helps any but, Loc-tite makes what they call "Retaining Compound" it is used for Slip fit bearing to "Lock" them to smooth shafts and lock races in place. I am not sure if it should or should not be on that bearing but maybe what was on it when you disassembled it.

Both Nc250's I have A0 and A1 939Series trucks do the same rpm gain with hand throttle when warming up.. . Seems to be nature of the beast.

I have seen a 1101 on a Bobed Deuce and like it, on a Bobed 5-ton I think some small fender flairs would make it look about right. you would want to leave the spare tire in place and put it behind that. on a 6x6 you should fill in the tire opening or it would just look silly.

I could be wrong but from my understanding the Hickup is with the Neutral Safety switch on the automatic trucks. From what I understood, All 939series boxes will work on the older 809Series but the the 809 series does not work on the 939series truck. Again I could have bad info..
