    M35a2 engine

One day I'll do engine swaps too, if only to save me a ton of cash! I think it would be neat to put a Cat 3126 in the truck. I have an A3 with the 3116 from the factory, but AM General lengthened the engine bay toward the bumper and widen the hood a few inches to better accommodate the motor...

VFD M35A2c returning to Texas Forest Service

Years ago I remember reading a post on G503 justifying a deuce-and-a-half for a teenager's first car. Some stuff I remember or maybe added: Learn how to drive a manual transmission Fuel efficiency isn't as high as other vehicles, leaving little spare money for drugs, cigarettes, and beer The...

VFD M35A2c returning to Texas Forest Service

Everyone else is spoiled with automatic transmissions? :p I'd like to drive an M35A2 at least once just to see what it's like compared to my A3. I haven't driven a manual transmission in forever!

    Out of Round Tires

I'd take the regular rims to a tire shop that does truck and ag tires and have them do the tire swap. if they were bolt-together rims I'd do them myself, and I have - and I lost about 10 pounds doing that job between restoration and mounting six super singles :p

    Heater motor rebuild for m35a2?

Heh, I just repaired a sewing machine where that was the problem :p @cessnapilot89 did you take the motor out of the truck and test it on the bench? If you want it professionally rebuilt perhaps a shop which works on starter motors, automotive generators, etc. would take a look at it.

Wire Loom vs Wire Wrap question

My dad made an entire Ford GPW wiring harness out of 3M electrical tape years ago. Still does what it should!

modern dual circuit air over hydraulic brakes

That's absolutely wild! I'm thankful my truck came with dual-circuit brakes for situations like this. I'm glad everyone is safe (y)

Getting started from scratch with a Deuce in 2024?

I consider the Deuce the baby 6x6, the cousin between the M37 and the M39/809/939 :p The 5-tons are definitely more trucky, and I hope to get one myself in the future, ideally a wrecker 🤞

    Sourcing M35 Cargo Cover Kit

I think the LMTV bows, stakes and covers would be nice because they're taller than the deuce covers. I've never been under one, but perhaps you can actually stand up under a LMTV cover?

    M56B1 questions

That looks sharp! That would get attention at car shows, especially with a fresh coat of paint. Great find! I always enjoyed driving my dad's M37 - I hope you enjoy it too!

    Strange Part

That sounds pretty convoluted o_O But that's typical for the government isn't it? 🙄

    Strange Part

I didn't realize the Air-O-Matic was a military kit! How was it decided whether any were purchased? Did units who consistently skipped "Arm Day" get them?

    3D Printer Nozzle Sizes

I just bought an assorted nozzle size kit from Creality for my Ender 5 Plus. It came with two nozzles each of: 0.2 mm 0.3 mm 0.5 mm 0.6 mm 0.8 mm 1.0 mm And it came with twelve 0.4 mm nozzles, probably because they make twelve times more of those than the other sizes :p I started off with a...

    Personalized Plate for my Deuce

I can't see why not - the only computer on the thing is the CTIS controller. The Cat 3116 and Allison AT1545P are purely mechanical.

I guess I'm just boring for wanting my truck's original bumper number for custom plates - PS 220

    How to lock up / secure a M35 A3 ?

My dad told me about a friend of his who brought his boa constrictor everywhere with him. While he was driving, the snake would wrap around his clutch pedal leg for the ride. When parked, the snake would get off his leg and rest under the seat. One day he parked his Corvette at a bar to meet...

    Low Range and Reverse

I've read about Jeeps with the manual transfer case getting the driveline bound-up when driving on pavement with part-time 4WD engaged. That happened to my mom's Grand Cherokee once when she was having trouble making smooth turns going to the office one day. My dad was on the phone with her...

    Low Range and Reverse

I've read that being gentle is key. It just seems like a crazy weakness that should've had a passive remedy from the start.
