    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Using the special clamp tool again I compress the seal rings and install the rear drum assembly. Now after installing the front and rear bands the drum assemblies are ready to go into the case. You need to "stab" the front shaft first angling the assembly into the case. The TM shows this. I...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I'm breaking up this post since the pictures downloaded stay with the post now. Makes it really messy and confusing trying to get everything organized. Once the drums are all ready to go it's time to install the pistons. I did have the inner seal area machined to except rubber seals but I...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Well, I'm back on the rebuild. I had been spending all my time last month getting ready to go see "plowboy" in Edmonton Canada. Due to a lot of crazyness I had to abort that trip, but I was able to go see a guy in "100 mile House" Canada who had several transmissions and parts for sell. I ended...

Sorry "plowboy" no special repair kits. I did buy 10 gasket kits for $20.00 each. Still in the original military wrapper. It was the same kit I got from you earlier, so no "reduction unit" gaskets. He did have fiber plates in 50 pack boxes. I bought a few. I asked if I needed more would he mail...

    G749 preservation

No. I spent the night up there and came back the next morning. I was "toasted" after driving for 8 hours and then loading up the truck. Coming back was also a trial as I was "overloaded" ( around 1.5 tons) and those mountain roads are steep ! I spent most of my time at 45 to 50 MPH to keep from...

    G749 preservation

Well "plowboy" I just got back from "Lyle's" place today. Eight hours up and eight hours back. He has quite a collection of M135 parts up there. I ended up with five 303M transmissions and other assorted goodies. I don't know the condition of the transmissions though. He had them all outside. He...

I just remembered the name of that hydraulic fitting. It's called a "comp-u-check" , and is used to test everything from engine oils to air systems.

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I talked with Arlin today. Basically, I was misled. He originally told me once the cost to load the specifications into the computer was met, it would be simple to replicate the gaskets and the cost would be lower than my original investment. Now he's saying every order is subject to this extra...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

OK, that is different from what they told me. Since I ordered the initial four sets they said the individual set cost would be $90.00 . Now you need to order five sets to get that price. I need to talk with Arlin. I can have another company make-up the gaskets.

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Here are the gaskets and part numbers. You can order the gaskets individually . With these gaskets and the gaskets from a regular car/truck HydraMatic transmission you have all the gaskets needed to rebuild the 303M Military transmission.

I guess I just have 303M's on my mind lately. Seeing them everywhere !

    While i've been away..

I was so disgusted by the news I forgot to look at the picture you posted. Is that another 303M transmission you have there ? Are you keeping it ? Just asking.

    While i've been away..

OK that is "HORRIBLE" !!! That was an amazing machine ! What a "Dickhead" !!! I'm disgusted beyond belief right now. Almost wished you hadn't told me. 😭

Yep, that is a late style pressure test port, usually used in hydraulics. Also it can be used as a quick disconnect for an auxiliary line.

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I forgot to mention, the gaskets are ready. I ordered the four sets, now you guys can order individual sets. The company is "Gardico" in Seattle, WA. Their phone number is 206-283-5850 ask for "Arlin Hunter". They have the set under "Military Transmission" gaskets. The price for the eight...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I've been working on my truck and trailer for the up-coming trip to "plowboys" place. I installed a 95 gallon auxillary fuel tank, and a rear axle "anti-sway bar" on the Chevy. The trailer I installed a 12,000 Ibs winch and battery tray and box. I'm rewiring the trailer connector with a better...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

The machine shop finally finished all the work I had him do. I had 10 clutch drums and piston housings modified to "six" drive rods instead of three, and a bunch of pistons modified with the quicker apply, and other odds and ends. To save a little bit of money I installed the drive rods myself...
