7MC-2A
New part arrived.
Fit like a glove.
Will run it today to see if it helps with the crankcase pressure problem.
I think the blowby is too great for this tube to matter much.
If so, I will keep doing the tea bottle trick.
I'm not going to remove the heads and related hardware, at least...
If it’s wet stacked as you wrote earlier, I would recommend that you run the unit much longer and close to 100%.
Get it cleared out now before you actually need it.
I do not own one of these, but have read in old threads about guys actually needing the generator and it’s so wet stacked that it...
7MC-2A
Started engine and the newly installed parts worked perfectly.
Had to replace some connections.
The old one was also hot to touch so I cut out the old female connector and replaced it with same style.
New connection is pictured.
With new one in place, the heat issue disappeared.
The...
7MC-2A
New parts arrived yesterday
Found some issues with the old parts.
It had been like that for some time
Glad I also ordered a new voltage regulator as it was fried as well.
The new alternator was slightly different with a protective covering at the wire attachment points...
That trailer will handle highway speeds just fine with those DOT approved truck tires.
Where that trailer will not work is on any public road as it's currently configured.
You would have to add the DOT required lighting, reflectors, safety chains, etc.
Tag/Inspection/Brake requirements vary...
I also ordered a new Hatz voltage regulator.
It's also made by Ducati.
Never hurts to have spare parts.
I'll do the testing procedure on the currently installed regulator when parts arrive and I'm ready for the install.
The cover is back on now and parked.
If I keep this one or sell it later...
7MC-2A
Did some more maintenance yesterday.
Installed new air filter and new pressure gauge on the compressor itself.
Also cleaned out the automatic air tank water drain.
Dirty and bits of rust in the screen but still works fine.
Took a closer look at the voltage regulator.
Made by Ducati...
They probably should have done that mod from the factory.
I've lost count of the number of bent brake handles I've seen.
Not sure how they do bend them, but they manage to do so a lot.
Every single one of my M101A2 trailers brake handles were bent to varying degrees of bend.
From slight to...
Ok
Will do
I got them pretty tight and they all felt good and strong.
Will leave them alone for now and might apply anti-corrosion on the wire ends at a later date.
I painted the oil dipstick handle.
It needed painting and I was out of 383 paint.
Didn’t want black or red and it now matches all my other equipment.
Not tactical but works
I still need to paint trailer and reinstall the fuel can holders on one side.
Will leave the other two off.
Also still...
I use steel wool in other things for mice prevention. Works well
Also would be too nervous to use it in the lug box since the 002A vibrates so much.
Now that I have a plug hard wired, I will not need to access the lugs again.
Made sure the lugs were nice and super tight.
I did not use any anti...
Finally got around to wiring this for a 50A plug.
Didn’t want the box on the generator itself due to vibration.
Electricians were out last week and installed the generator lockout box and related items on the power pole.
So now the only cord I have to deal with is the big 50A, 50’ one. Thing...
Have been using the 7MC-2A quite a bit.
About 6+ hours since last post.
This thing is a lot more useful than I thought it would be.
Discovered that I have a crankcase breather problem.
It’s pressurizing the crankcase and forcing oil past the oring.
Had the oil fill cap off to check the amount...
Welcome to Steel Soldiers!
Read up on past threads as the ideas already done to these shelters is almost endless.
Some really clever ideas!
SS Member AntennaClimber did one that looks really nice.
All it takes it time, imagination, and of course, money.
Rig looks good.
Not a fan of the...
