Thanks for all the advice and experience. I ordered some eyewear for the family and new respirator cartridges, i am also going to stock up on eye wash. I have a spare intake filter, fuel filter and will be getting new oil and water separator filter. I am planning on cleaning out the intake...
Hello all,
I live in Alaska and there is a good chance that a volcano can erupt and deposit a glass or silica ash around town. Is there any suggestions or experiences here that can help with preventive maintenance and operating?
I have the stock air cleaner with the seperator, I am assuming...
I think every 1000 feet is like something of a 4-5% pressure drop. It may also be non linear the higher up you go. You would have to find some engineering data or test done at altitude to confirm that the engines can operate at your desired altitude.
found an interesting test done for diesel...
I think there is a rating of power at max altitude listed on the data plate, mine has a 3000ft listing. I assume there is just a loss of power for elevation gained.
do you have any noticeable loss of power at 8k?
The SN cutoff for the bad bearings is pre 6510072174, SN for the composite thrust washer is post SN 6511014364.
The Allison documents that are applicable are
SIL 17-WT-11
SIL 29-WT-96

GeneralDisorder did a post about the pin program settings on the CTIS controller. That is prob where you got that pic from. I have not read through it, but is makes sense...
Good tape to use is F4 tape or fusion tape, it is a self sealing silicone tape. It is used a lot in temp wire repairs and insulators for the aerospace industry.
It look like the PTO PN is 276XMFJX-D5XK per -24 LMTV TM, I could not find a parts desc for the 276 all I could find was for the 277. Most of the numbers line up. It gives an output type of a 2 or 4 bolt sae b whatever than means, I don’t know if the spline is the same pitch or diameter. See...
My cab heater fan wasn’t working when I got it from auction, I did a voltage check and I was getting about 12v to the fan switch, found the plug behind the heater was corroded, I replaced with a deutch type plug.
Chains make a big difference, with chains on the truck just digs down till it hits hard pack and drives right through it. Also I used screw in studs and they seem to work well on the ice.
Regarding your CTIS issues, you might want to think of installing a CTiS off switch, the arctic trucks have them installed and I had to activate mine when it got real cold due to the tires draining when the PCU does a tire check...
Do your tires take a while to air down where you get the in between mode error? My truck has the same problem but does it when it is cold, I think it makes the wheel valves more sensitive to unbalanced flows. I think I have an obstruction in the lines or in the rear axle CTIS hub port causing a...
did you use the M&G brake system, how hard was it to put the actuator on your brake booster, out of all the car towing system this the air brake system on the brake booster seemed the safest and well designed. It would also be nice to be able to use the service glad hand rather than running a...
Saw a post on FB that the oil cooler was installed wrong and was bypassing the filter, caused a lot of failures in the bearings, Huei pump, control valves and crankshaft. Checking your oil cooler is a good practice, prob every single 3126 out there the oil cooler is leaking or will leak in the...
I use stanadyne, living in Alaska the fuel is blended with #1 and #2 depending on the expected temp. If you forget to add an antigell additive and you still have your summer blend in the tank you will start to get gelling.
