Chris, how much of the truck-specific stuff have you been able to locate vs. are you still looking for? I am curious how far away from completing the truck you are. That sure is a great truck to restore.
Lindsay151, I am curious which inline fuel filter you added to your truck. I have an M151A2 and I also added an inline fuel filter. The set up works well to keep any dirt out of the stock fuel filter. However, your inline filter is bigger and I would like to upgrade mine. Please advise...
You've got it backwards. They can legally tag and drive tracked vehicles on the road in the UK! In fact, I believe they can also own fully functional tank guns...at least I was offered a fully functional T-72 about a decade ago from a guy in the UK. I would have had to get it demil'ed to US...
It's gonna be salty, but you could always try EASTERN SURPLUS in PA. I would bet they have winch kits. I used to pay $1000/kit, but I think those days are gone. I got one from Rich Greene in PA, who is now deceased; he was a great guy.
Beautiful truck. I don't have any wisdom to add. But, is there any way to drive on back roads, or will you have to drive on the highway? I'd think the truck would like it better if you kept the RPM down. I always worry about leaking seals when you get it back home, although they can always...
I would assume the frame is stamped, but I am not certain of that.
I have a 1971 Ford M151A2. I did not know that the fenders on my MUTT were not identical to the others on newer A2s. If anyone has pictures showing the differences, I'd appreciate seeing that.
Or, your differentials are pressurizing and causing differential lube to seep out. Open the fill plugs slowly and carefully and listen to see if you hear an air release sound.
I know it is a longshot, but is the front right corner dented? I sold an M548A1 to a guy who was bringing it to Alaska. There can't be too many in Alaska. It was a good machine. I am sure it is not the same one...but I thought I'd check. :)
I suggest you contact John Murray in DE. He has turbo motors and has the mechanics who could do the swap. I am unsure of the cost, though, but he is generally not too pricey in my experience.
