I hope to use as much as possible from the Waterloo Specialties power steering kit. The Cummins 5.9L engine has a power steering pump, so I should be able to use it. I will let you know if I have anything left over to part with.
I used an on-line gearing calculator and it told me that in 4th...
I just sealed the deal on a 1997 Cummins 5.9L engine and Allison AT545 transmission. They both have 46k miles on them. Did I mention I only paid $1400? Woo whooo!
Stay tuned for more pictures/updates as I pull the Cummins/Allison as well as the Multifuel/Spicer!
Pull your in-tank pump and check the discharge hose. Mine had a hole in the hose and it completely fell off with a touch of my finger. I replaced the hose and put better clamps on.
Here is a page dedicated to pulling my in-tank pump and repairing the damaged/loose discharge line...
Shannon,
Can you show a few more pictures of how the evaporator and fan assembly fits under the dash? Maybe a shot as you open the passenger door, then a few close-ups? Thanks!
A guy I talked to yesterday has a used 8.3 Cummins + Allison transmission for sale, but he doesn't have any other information until Monday morning. He did say it came out of a 1995 F-800 bucket truck. Maybe he can provide more information next week. Wouldn't this be the same drivetrain that...
I won a large portable crane (fancy 6000lbs capacity engine hoist) on GL. I've been looking for a donor Cummins 5.9L engine and tranny for months. My goal is a little more power than the deuce power plant. I'd be happy with 350-400HP and 600-700 ft-lbs. What auto tranny would I be looking for...

Try hitting the air buzzer with a hammer. If a hammer don't fix it you got yourself an electrical problem. This philosophy works on pretty much everything deuce related...
I can't believe the typical responses haven't hit this thread yet:
1) Will you tell your insurance company that you modified the heads for more airflow?
2) Why does your deuce need to be any faster?
3) How will you stop your deuce with all of this extra power?
Think about public safety...
Air the tires up to the max pressure allowed to minimize the contact patch to lower the rolling resistance.
Drain the fuel tank(s) to hold only 5 gallons, unless you think it will take more than 5 gallons to go 1320 feet.
Roll the windows up.
Close the windshields.
Ditch any tools or other...
That's what she said. :D
On a more serious note, I still have people that like to tail gate me while I'm driving the deuce. There is going to be serious **** to pay if someone rear ends me at a stop sign or light now that I've got that massive hitch on the back. Before the hitch I used to...
