I am not headed that way, but did pull two of the M-1102's from Atlanta, Georgia to Gainesville, FL in two separate trips last year. They are not heavy(1470lbs) & have surge brakes. Pulling them with a Toyota Tacoma is no problem. Just a thought!
Welcome from Florida, good looking truck. The experts will be along in a short while to answer your questions. I would start with a new steering stabilizer before changing out any ball joints, unless you have tested them & they show they are bad.

I am putting the new A/C evaporator in my M1081, but haven't had time to complete the installation. The only problem others here had was the gunners platform was too long to allow the evaporator to fit & lay flat!
If I had known of your problem, there would have been a trade of a NOS M35a2 cover, bows & hardware for your LMTV cover(with your approval). I was not aware of your plight! My loss & your good work of a conversion between the two!
There are some large differences when it comes time to replace missing windows, cab sections & other odds n ends that makeup the airdrop version. Having the ability to hook a large section of cargo parachutes to the frame of the truck is(useless to those of us without a C-130) is just cool...
