Pressure the fuel tank and then check to see if any of the rubber lines have pinhole leaks. I had the same problem and I found that I had to replace a fuel line.
Welcome. My parents have a place in Cherry Valley, NY. ZEBEDEE is also from Cherry Valley. There is at least one other member from Cooperstown. There are also many others that are further west. You should be able to find some like-minded people fairly easily.
IMO, the M151A2 is an underappreciated military vehicle. It is small enough to fit in a garage. It is tactical so it still has the cool factor. Prices are fairly reasonable. And, it can be driven as a daily driver if you wanted to do so. I love mine. I got mine from Joe Young. Joe did a...
As common as standard troop seats are, I'd suggest you just find a set. You are in for some serious modification. The dump truck troop seats don't fold down for use like the troop seats on a cargo truck. Instead, the seats are actually removed from the uprights (when you are installing them...
I am located in Damascus (although my street address says Gaithersburg). I am just south of Ollie by about 15 minutes. I can attest that Ollie's truck is solid and he is a stand-up guy.
That is not a problem that is specific to the A2s. The entire series suffers from what I believe was a failure in engineering. Check out the data plates on any M939 series truck...they will direct you NOT to use reverse in low range.
I've had trucks with both engines that I felt were really powerful. The point is, if you find a good running NHC250 or 6CTA8.3, you will be happy. I have an M925A2 that has serious power; many others I've had were slugs. I have an M934 that will kick your a** back in the seat when you hit the...
I believe they originally came out with the little inline filter and the spin on filter on the side of the block (they might have come out with only the spin on filter...I have not been able to confirm that with a guy I know who bought out BMY). Sometime later, the military decided that the...
PATRACY, I was going to post the same thing, but I was afraid that the "post police" (not the mods) would have jumped down my throat as though I was raining on the OP's parade. This situation is EXACTLY why people should generally get their trucks hauled home.
I have posted previously on this. I have taken multiple trucks to an Allison dealer/service center and they recommended Dextron III (admittedly it was multiple years ago so I guess that has changed) or Transynd (I opted against it because of the extra cost). I had 10W oil in my transmissions...
The guy who owns the CARQUEST near me told me that CARQUEST gives them incentives to move filters. They still make money even at the discount prices and CARQUEST kicks them back a little something extra to move the filters. Trust me, they aren't losing money on the sale. Someone just isn't...
This sounds like the sale that CARQUEST has twice a year by me. All filters during the sale are half price or better. I stock up big-time on their filters (Wix makes their filters). I bought so many that, honestly, I am not sure I'll ever use them all. :) The sale by me just ended; the next...
I understand you said that they'd rather swap in another engine, but make sure you tell them that a running take-out motor can be as cheap as $1,500. I believe John Appel was selling one for that price, but check with him to confirm it. While the NHC250 has its flaws, it is a good durable...
