Map of States That Are or Are Not HMMWV Friendly

in WA it's possible to register military vehicles, but it depends on what licensing office you go through. the state sent out a letter 6 years ago telling offices to not license anything with a military looking model unless the owner could prove it had an FMVSS decal on it, but as I said, it...

    MEP 701a/Gasket Material

Quick read through the specs doesn't list anything about oil/fuel resistance in it's requirements. Not to say your rubber doesn't have that resistance; just it isn't part of the spec.

1123 200a gen breaking mount bolts

Does the rear support bracket go to the exhaust manifold or down to the lower engine block? The exhaust manifold flange isn't parallel to the mounting face, so when you tighten it down it pulls the stud off center, considerably weakening it. Add a 200 amp alternator to the mix and the stud...

M720 dolly to move shipping container

Not sure the situation but usually a shipping container is set down wherever you want it to be, and you start filling it with junk, pretty quickly going well past what the rated capacity of the M720 is. Not much point in having the container and not filling it. With a little time and money you...

M720 dolly to move shipping container

M720 is designed to connect to smaller shelters, does not have the correct size or design of connectors to attach to a shipping container. For civilian shipping containers, you would need the M1022A1 as it is adjustable for different container heights. The M1022 is designed for an older...

Do we know how long the auctions will continue?

They were still selling off 5 tons and deuce and a halfs until a few years ago, and most of them left service decades earlier. Unless they change how the military disposes of equipment, they should have HMMWVs for sale for at least a couple more decades.

    Electrical Assistance

Power comes from the batteries, through the headlight switch, then through the turn signal, and then goes out to the lights. I believe it also comes through the PCB before the light switch. There is a breaker inside the light switch that will not reset itself until the short circuit is taken...

    Whats a 1097A2 worth?

Usually around $15k seems a decent price for an A2 variant in running shape, titled, and 2 man cab. I've seen people asking $20k or more for the same, but asking price is rarely the selling price. Really depends on how badly you want to sell it. Asking $18-20k and letting them talk you down...

    Whats a 1097A2 worth?

As it sits there, if properly titled and running well, your $12.5k offer seems more than reasonable.

    Electrical Assistance

Sounds to me like you have an electrical short somewhere in the light circuit you need to hunt down.

    Radiator question.

You mean the transmission oil cooler that is on top of the actual radiator? This is how all of them are. Civilian H1s can also have the aircon condenser in the stack as well. The various coolers together are commonly referred to as the cooling stack.

    M1101 / 1102 axle torsion springs

The torsion is inside the axle itself, so as long as the weight is off of the axle (i.e. wheels removed and nothing pushing on the hubs) then there isn't anything to worry about.

    Thermostat fan switch temperature ranges?

You are correct that it is no longer available as an AM General OEM part, but that doesn't mean it isn't being made by the OEM vendors HPG has one from an original OEM Vendor in stock and explains the reason: EFFECTIVE 10-2021 ANYTHING BUT "REM MFG" IS AFTERMARKET AND IS WORTHLESS POS AND DOES...

    Thermostat fan switch temperature ranges?

if it isn't an OEM part, then it's cheap chinese crap. There really isn't any in-between

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

That's a shiny filler neck. Did you buy it through a reputable source, or is it a chinesium knock off?

Did I toast my 6.2 engine somehow, and how do you jump a 24v HMMWV?

I've seen batteries that failed within a few months of purchase. They will show a full charge, but have little capacity left. The fact that the OP keeps his on a charger when not in use doesn't rule out the possibility of a failed battery, but it would mean they pretty much always show higher...

200 amp alternator- No output, questions.

As Mogman said, checking for voltage at the ign terminal should tell you whether it's getting the signal to produce power or not. If it is and still not producing power, then I'd worry about further troubleshooting of the alt. Because it's intermittent, then it's 98% likely it's a failed...

200 amp alternator- No output, questions.

Sounds like the start box is failing and needs repaired/replaced. The alternator has zero control over the glow plug operation Alternator won't start until it gets a signal from the start box 60 amp alternator is considered a major downgrade. If you are going to do anything, it would probably...

Did I toast my 6.2 engine somehow, and how do you jump a 24v HMMWV?

Halfway though his original post he did in fact mention that he used 2 shims when installing the starter.

Log of my M1165. Project Joshua.

They discontinued the MT/R and now have a line labeled as "Enforcer" that look the same.
