Yeah, that's how I did the seal on my 5.9L in my Dodge, but the TM specifically said to mount the cover loosely, use the seal driver on the crank to center the cover, torque the bolts, then, install the seal using the plastic crank cover and the seal driver. So, that's what I did. We'll see...
As promised, here are some pics of yesterday's session and a video of the engine running. I forgot to mention that I also got a new fuel line installed for the fuel-burning heater and test-fired it yesterday too. The old one poured fuel all over the exhaust
The engine you hear running...
It's alive!!!!!!
Well, I lucked out and had the day off yesterday, so I figured that was a sign I need to go to Winslow's and do some wrenching!
Even though it rained most of the morning, I had the most productive day I have ever had down there. Usually it is one fubar after another, but I...
Engines are definitely not always what they seem. I have cleaned up and used some that looked they were ready to be boat anchors. On the other hand, I bought a rebuilt NHC-250 on GL for a M925 project. It had been rebuilt, installed, locked up, and then put back in the can. Doh! :evil...
Howdy. If I had to guess, I would say air is leaking into the t-case from the interlock (red) and is being forced past the seals on the actuator assembly (blue). Check out the air line diagram in volume 4 of the TM to see if there are any other direct air connections to the t-case that could be...
Don't worry about the naysayers, guys. Most are a little disgruntled because of some personal things that have gone on in the past. SS is certainly not going downhill. If anything, we fall a little off of our pace sometimes, but then start picking up speed again. That tends to happen with...
We have a winner!
I will get one of the guys who was there give us all of the details. In the meantime, here are some pics snapped by David Doyle of the judging crew and the winner, Lamar, un-crating his trophy. A big thank you goes out to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen!!
Well, it was down to the wire, but the trophy and the judging sheet have been finished for the SteelSoldiers.com Excellence in M-Series Award.
A huge thanks goes out to Brian 54reo who put the trophy together with his Dad in record time! I think it looks fantastic.
I finished the...
Update time. Thank you everyone for all of your suggestions. Things have been going on behind the scenes so don't worry. I was out of the country last week, but one of our members was working tirelessly on the trophy. Let me just say that you all are going to be very impressed! I won't give...
Michael,
That's a good idea and would make a great secondary award for this year. We could give the winner a gift certificate to one of the parts vendors or something. I would still like to do something live and in person for this convention as well.
