Alberta Canada Trips In Vehicle Events ACTIVE

I wish we had some CMP's on the road. The few that are around are either locked in the barns or still waiting restoration. One of the local MVPA boys grabbed a couple last year and was on the list as the next project. Here are a few photos on pic #2.....

    M211 crew cab crusade

Fuel Pump The fuel pump likes to take a holiday when it sits too long and I've had the one in the M207 out 4 times. We take the screens off, clean it and away it whirrrs again. The one in the M135 has been strong for years so more use gives better juice. We took an old one apart and there was...

Dashboard ID Now let's have some fun. Since it was open cockpit day, I'm going to post some aircraft 'related' pictures and give you kids some time to test your knowledge on what 'unit' the pics are from. These are not all aircraft but each picture is from a unit that is airport related. Take...

Alberta Canada Trips In Vehicle Events ACTIVE

The big Bedford deserves the 95 mile long distance spotlight with a few others dragging the LSVW and Gizmo the 56' M135 for 40 miles. The military buzzed us all day long in the Griffon so it gave us some real cool picture opportunities.

Alberta Canada Trips In Vehicle Events ACTIVE

Sometimes when we plan an event and the weather forecast states that there is no chance of precipitation, it rains. The local MVPA was invited to wheel into the Alberta Aviation Museum's Open Cockpit Day and 10 boys said they would show up. The rain kept a few jeeps in the barn but once the...

    G749 preservation

That 3 truck layout is such a big motivator we moved George up the hill near Gracie for the upcoming model shoot and clean it up. Good friends with big equipment really help in this hobby. A few more big 14:00 20 tire pics, Gizmo, Goose and the MP Iltis.

    G749 preservation

We've been going fast at work and at the G749 farm, moving things around for better access, checking anti-freeze, oiling and turning engines, painting and prepping for a model shoot this weekend. Back in the big City, the MVPA meets every Saturday unless there is an event. This weekend was...

    I've joined the G749 club...

We've got a couple of blocks that had heads pulled by the PO so they're a rusty pool on top. We tried diesel fuel, then a mix of acetone and transmission fluid on one block with no luck. The biggest factor comes with aluminum pistons in a steel cylinder. It's so important to keep them moving so...

    I've joined the G749 club...

Engines that haven't been oiled and turned have the additional problem of galvanic corrosion. Not sure if all of them have aluminum pistons but the ones we've busted apart looked more like they were welded to the cylinder walls as opposed to just being stuck there. Had to knock the pistons out...

    G749 preservation

That's why I asked...Safety First, thanks for the feedback gents. I play guitar so can't afford to lose a digit, or an eye. Avoiding injury and pain is my middle name. M1010plowavoidinginjuryandpainboy Haven't had any experience with a shell like this so even though Letsled was sure it was...

Shorted out the keyboard drooling on it so now we're both wet.......2 winches, spare parts....what a find! Are the exhaust manifolds ok? Steering wheel cracks?....Are you as excited as I am? Looking forward to more pics.

    G749 preservation

Got a call from Letsled who wanted to sneak out to the G749 farm and confirm some measurements.......and we discovered a cool little mystery. It's not, why is the guy laying on the ground in front of Goose, ....or why 3 swather's are parked instead of working, ....or why the doors aren't...

    New M135 owner checking in.

Certainly wish there was more info on the Civil Defense Vehicles that roamed the U.S. in the early years of the Cold War. We're starting to dig up some wild history North of the border and have documentation showing the G749 was used in many roles protecting the continent. It'd be just as...

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

Ran across this video from St Baarts. At 1:47 I'd say the Avenger wins the low flyer competition. Some great shots of the Texas Flying Legends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2jbgWAJmnA It's been a tough weekend for the airshow community with the loss of another legend. Marcus Paine.....Rest...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

BOLT Not sure if any of this will help but the best I could come up with is (6) 5/16-24NF x 2 11/32 7411701 ......MFR's part # YT-2194196....FSN 5305-741-1701 . . . . all in the photos. By the looks of the schematic it's bolt- T. If it's something different, poke me with a stick and I'll look...

Loaded, not me, the hardtop.....soon on its way to a new truck. You have some extra parts to pick through so hopefully some of them can be passed along.

    M211 top

Let's check the years of the trucks with split windows. I'm nearly certain SuperDave's 52' has the split. So far every truck I've seen up north and at the G749 farm has a single slider. Here are a few more I snapped yesterday. These aren't in bad shape compared to the one the Goat team beat...
