Been miserating over how to carry my tools around in the Deuce (and relieve all the tools everywhere) so I purchased a Rigid tool box at Home Depot today. Going to camo paint it, then bolt it down to the back of the Deuce Bed, then tack the bolt studs with my welder. Ain't coming off, ever...
Prepping the Deuce for an 'outing' here, and I go out and fire up, let warm up, shut down, then open the drain on the inboard air tank and it pukes out what smells like oil. I'm talking air tool smelling oil here. Tanks really don't accumulate moisture here in the desert, but what was really...
Anybody ever figured out a way to pull one of these 5 ton trailers with a 12 volt hookup, sans transformers? The site is full of threads on pulling a 12 volt trailer with a 24volt Deuce or other mil vehicle, but when I (hopefully) pickup my trailer at Hooks, I want to energize the brakes off...
Any members recovered any trailers from Hooks that could give me some pointers? Bought a trailer and waiting on the Invoice now. What's the local rep like?
I'm going to wire in some 24volt service lights off of a wrecker to my Deuce, and I ordered the female 12 guage rubber connectors from Saturn Surplus. They arrived today and have the connectors, the rubber boot, and a little brass washer. Anybody know where the washer is supposed to go? Looks...
Anyone have thumbs up, or thumbs down on the 5 ton 20 foot pintle hook trailers for a Deuce? Am thinking about buying one just for hauling whatever behind my Deuce, like welder, ATV 4 wheeler, etc. ??
I've read as much as I can on the sprag versus airshift transfer cases, but my question is can you have a manual lever shift transfer case that does not have the "wind-up" issue. Reason I ask is that mine is a 1971 M35A2 hardtop, and I crawled underneath it today and do not see the 'linkage'...
Am thinking seriously about buying a 5 ton wrecker. To those that have one, is insurance expensive? My use will be for farming/ranching. I have no intention of hauling cars or anything with it. Any landmines to watch out for in buying/owning one off the top of your head?
I've read what posts I could find and want to go to DOT 5 brake fluid in my deuce. Anyone know what the system capacity is of the entire brake system. I want to get all of whatever is in there out.
Does the inspection plate on the bellhousing use a gasket? I need to spray brake cleaner on my friction plate after a main oil seal leak. Don't want to risk it if a gasket, though, cause I have to leave in the a.m.
I want to run a CB radio in my deuce. Cobra 29ltd (tuned UP, no linear). I want to keep my M35A2 as close as possible to it's original configuration. It has no antenna mounts presently. Think I could just mount a spring with 102" whips? Any suggestions on where I could buy the original...
Going Monday to Fort Bliss to recover a CBC M105 trailer for a fellow member. What size socket, or wrench, do you need to loosen the nut to 'flip' the lunette? Already bought a pintle hook, etc for my receiver on my Dodge dually, but I still think I need to flip the ring. Only have to go...
On top of some of the other problems I've had, I bypassed the FDC and am still making oil. Have to assume it's the injector pump. Any comments greatly appreciated, 'cause I'm about to have the IP pulled and rebuilt.
I've read as many posts as possible, but now my Deuce is 650 miles away after an awful diesel intrusion into the crankcase, and I suspect it's definitely the FDC. Need to fly over and get it in San Antonio, and question is, what tools do I need to bypass the FDC? I know I need some plugs, but...
