how do you adjust the M1009 tailgate latch so that when you pull up it unlatches both sides ?

I got this M1009 from state surplus add to put a engine in it, the old one was low on compression and would not start with out help, and smoked like a freight train going up hill. I put the front bumper from a firetruck on it and all the lights. it will light up. :-P

I would like to remove my black out lights and switches. I'm thinking of making the blackout bumper lights into LED emergency flashing lights. iwas going to take them a part and put leds in to them. is there a easy way to remove the switches?
