    M923A2 Alternator Fried

I took a little drive yesterday as I was backing into the drive I smelled a strange smell and noticed a small wisp of smoke come from under the hood. It quickly dissipated. I was inspecting everything to find out what might have caused it and discovered that the connections to the alternator...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Thanks for pics, on my list to do. Does the one on the door interfere at all getting in and out of the truck? I'm concerned I might continually smash my elbow on the lower bracket climbing out.

    questions about m923a1

Sounds like a good deal to me if it's as advertised. Just a new cargo cover is close to $2k. There's been a few threads from guys that have added winches, don't recall the costs, but it looked like a lot of work. Of course "a lot of work" is relative to who's doing it.

    Flushing power steering system M923A2

I was going over everything under the hood today and noticed something missing from the power steering reservoir. I determined it was the breather that was missing. Looks like it just came unscrewed and disappeared. I ordered a replacement one and it's on the way. I'm concerned that...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Replaced another O-Ring in a wheel due to a slow leak, or I should say, "had it replaced". Best $60 value there is. I didn't even sprain anything or smash any body parts handing them the debit card.:D

    HMMWV impounded

This was a very common issue with U-Haul. Back when I was a rookie cop I was told at one point almost 10% of Uhauls on the road were entered stolen! Some where, some weren't. Made our jobs really difficult when you stopped one. Is this a criminal hauling stolen goods in a stolen trailer, or...

    "filler". Oil fill cap.

    Blow by

It's a "subjective visual" check. They take a video of the oil filler off and the truck running. Personally, I think if a MV doesn't have some blow-by, it ain't running.

    CTIS PCU Chattering Then Faults

Putting a pressure guage inline after the water trap is an excellent idea. My system is working fine, but it still chatters when inflating. I'm wondering if I don't have a clogged line somewhere.

    CTIS Pneumatic Controller Question

I replaced the pressure transducer on mine with a NOS one. I also fixed my PCU after screwing up the reassemble (switched solenoid locations). My CTIS works fine now, but it does still chatter on refill. System works fine, airs down and back up like it should.

    CTIS PCU Chattering Then Faults

Are you referring to the governor on the firewall? That doesn't govern air pressure to the CTIS. It governs the air sent to the wet tank, by cycling the compressor unloader valve. It also signals the air dryer valve to expel. It is set around 125 PSI. Some have raised it a bit to help the CTIS...
