What have you done to your JEEP today

We are some UPS and Post Office waiting on fools. I'll be glad when Kaiser Willys starts delivering parts by drone.

What have you done to your JEEP today

Too much coffee at work yesterday - came home and jumped on working on the Willys. I was able to get the RH springs and shock installed. That freed me up to install the tie rods, bell crank, drag link, pitman arm, and steering gear box. Sounds like a lot, but when the systems are already...

What have you done to your JEEP today

Very productive weekend 8 - 10 hours work total = ring and pinion for front axle installed, new seals in front axle, painted axle, front end springs and shocks installed, front axle installed out to knuckles, timing gears repaired and cover re-installed, new water pump installed, and new fan...

    Removing the Crankshaft Pulley Nut

Ta da - it was easy with the right tool.

    Removing the Crankshaft Pulley Nut

The oil line fitting on my timing gear cover was broken and the previous owner just jammed the oil line in and glopped on some sealant. Since I'm partial to things working like they are supposed to and not being jury-rigged, I need to replace the timing gear cover. I know how to use a puller...

What have you done to your JEEP today

Pulled off the last of the 12V items to begin the process of restoring the 24V system.

    m170 12v starter compatability

I am converting a 1953 M38A1 back to 24V. I just, tonight, took off the 12V starter. If you can't find one, I'll gladly sell you mine for cheap. Not exactly sure what I'd ever do with it now.

Are you saying they are mighty easy to find? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    10 Things I've Learned Restoring My M38A1

Actually, mine is therapy. I bought it and am restoring it in honor of my Father, who died April 2015. It has given me a lot of time working with my hands to think and grieve. He drove an M38A1 when he was in the service.

    10 Things I've Learned Restoring My M38A1

Yup, it's all good fun. On the whole, it's much better than a lot of addictions!

    10 Things I've Learned Restoring My M38A1

I know, right? I get 1/3 of the way into re-wiring the 12V conversion in mine and decide to back to 24V...Budget.Blown.

    10 Things I've Learned Restoring My M38A1

Most of the parts were apparently, judging by the cost, made by Bavarian gnomes, made of unobtainium, and forged in Vulcan's furnace. If they don't cost an arm and a leg, they don't fit or work right. Corollary to #'s 1 and 2 - no matter how diligently you search for a part, the day after you...

What have you done to your JEEP today

Yep, that's about the best way to have a fire and lose all of you material possessions - better left to professionals.

What have you done to your JEEP today

After fighting with the previous owner's conversion to 12V, I bit the bullet and purchased the items needed to convert back to 24V. Serious setback in money and time, but on the whole, I would never been satisfied with 12V and knowing that was not original. That and I can't understand a thing...

    NEED A SOURCE: Vacuum Lines

Excellent. I have bought from George on more than one occasion and he's always given me great service at a great price. Appreciate the help!

    NEED A SOURCE: Vacuum Lines

If I can't find the lines, I have a bending and flaring tool (for the brake lines) so I will fabricate them myself. Rather buy them, though.

    NEED A SOURCE: Vacuum Lines

I need a source for the vacuum lines for a 1953 M38A1 with the 134 F engine. I tried a CJ5 kit but they are totally different. Any help would be appreciated, mine are totally shot, each has numerous holes in them.
