MVPA 2012 Alaska Convoy
Here is a little update on the convoy plans. We now have over 55 vehicles registered and paid. The convoy recon team has been driving the route for the past ten days. Checking on road conditions, finding stopping places to part 75 vehicles. Places to stay and places to...
XM211 Winch to M35A2
The winch from the 211 will fit into the M35A2 frame extension brackets. The Winch lock lever is slightly different but works the same. Round Button on the 211 and the M35 winch has that little dog leg lever lock.
All the rest has to come from an M35. PTO drive, PTO shaft...
Another trick is to use a fork lift from the side. Put the fork tips thru the spaces between the seat backs. Or work the troop seat up with a pry bar to get the forks under and then carefully lift. Help the ends with a pry bar and a block of wood on each end as the hydraulics lift. We do it all...
In Tank Pump Question
In the latest issue of the MVPA magazine Supply Line, there is a complete article about the intank pumps, their design life, failure modes, testing and how to contact the manufacturer who will sell a new replacement pump assembly to private owners. The pump is still in...
M2 HST Cletrac
Just when you thought you had it all someone posts another photo. Now you need the Cletrac TRAILER to go behind the tractor.
This was taken on the ALCAN highway at the end of or just after WWII. Its the only image I have ever seen of a trailer? Theater made or factory?
Cat...
One of the very important provisions that we were able to place into the new Wisconsin HMV law in 2010 is NO RESTRICTION on the age of a former US military vehicle to qualily for registration as a Historic Military Vehicle.
Taking the age requirement out takes care of any issues with newer...
Alaska Convoy
Hey Convoy Drivers,
Sounds like there are quite a few who are planning to drive the convoy but have not signed up yet. The Convoy team is working hard on were to stay, where to get fuel, maintenance locations and forming collection convoys from all over the US and Canada.
It...
Antique Registration
Actually if Rick WAS in Wisconsin, and wanted to register it as a historic vehicle, it would be NO PROBLEM AT ALL! Register it as a Historic Military Vehicle. $30 fee one time. No state inspection. Any year allowed, No size or weight restrictions.
Ya Ya Ya it is...
Steel and Canvas
Is the MVPA involved in this? Oh yes! When I testified at several public hearings during the legislative process, it was on behalf of the membership with the blessing of the MVPA board and the MVPA affiliate clubs in the state. Numbers speak volumes.
As a result of some of...
Law To Protect Wisconsin MV's Proposed
We could probably start a new thread on this subject since alot has happened since 2009.
We are still actively engaged with the legislature and are working to draft the amendments that we wanted in the original Historic Military Vehicle law that took...
Help from LA Members
It depends on what type of plates your register it under.
Here is the exemption statute
From Louisiana Statutes:
LOUISIANA REVISED STATUTES

CHAPTER 7. MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION
La. R.S. 32:1311 (2010)

MVPA 2012 Alaska Convoy
Well Boys and Girls, The convoy is going to be a great trip. But the gun debate IS OVER! Many of us own firearms and like to travel with one or two. But the convoy managment team has already made the decision for the group for this trip.
To avoid any potential issues...
M35A3 12 Volt Source
You do not need and don't want to add a second alternator and you don't want to try and convert the system to 12 Volts. And do not connect a 12 volt accesory to a two battery 24 Volt system. You will damage the alternator and the batteries.
There are a number of...
MVPA 2012 Alaska Convoy
Of course anyone that knows me knows this would have to be my all time ALCAN dream rig to drive on the anniversary convoy in 2012. Diesel Diamond T, Rodgers Bros low boy and a 1942 Cat D-7
Fuel cost - Who Cares! Slow road speeds - Who Cares! The "I just saw a ghost"...
MVPA 2012 Alaska Convoy
As an alternative to buying a tow behind camper trailer, here is an example of a really well done M101 3/4 Ton Trailer made into a camper and it still looks military.
If you are handy and have a trailer - and there are plenty of M101's on GL lately, you could do well...
MVPA 2012 Alaska Convoy
Well, it won't be a free trip that's for sure, but if you go and you should, you won't have to say, "Oh the 2012 Convoy"?, "well no, I stayed in Texas, layed around on the couch and watched Oprah for four weeks."
You can travel with the group driving up from Texas...
Driving MV to Alaska
I don't want to see Ferro's thread get confused with the MVPA Alaska Highway Military Vehicle Convoy that will be making the trip in August of 2012. That will be the 70th Anniversary of the completion of the military highway in WWII.
Ferro was talking about one man taking...
Driving on Black Ice
In northern climates, we just stay home. turn up the heat, crack another beer and watch the Green Bay Packers.
Why drive when it's icy????
Cat Man - just south of Green Bay WI
CCKW Compressor Truck
A very nice truck. Looks very original.
They are a great piece of equipment. Does it have any or all of the power tools with it?
These trucks were a common item for many years around VA veterans homes that had military cemetary's for the same reason. Winter digging...
