"Low Air" What does it mean?

If it is a true hmmwv tire, then it will have a run flat installed. This, will keep the side walls intack. However, now there will be a flat spot on the runflat. Air it up, load it on a transporter and take it home. PMCS it...best time you can spend on your new toy before you drive it.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Also don't forget about the HS bolt inside the hub. Replace lock washer EVERYTIME you remove it. Stuff a rag just below the bolt when removing it AND have a magnet attached to the socket to extract the bolt and washer.

    Replaced harmonic balancer

I replace the front crank oil seal whenever I replace the harmonic balancer. Just peace of mind.

Engine cranks but whirs right before kicking over

Dropping a starter is easy, just don't get crushed by it. Its heavy. There are the 2 bolts plus a nut/stud connection point inside the right side motor mount. Disconnect batteries prior to wrenching.

    HMMWV in the Snow?

Here is my M1037 that I have had for many years. They can be dogs in the snow if you are not familiar with the hmmwv. BTM is a necessity with them off-roading and momentum is very helpful. After that is tire pressure. Keep in mind with all vehicles in snow, snow pack that converts to ice...

    Dash Brake Light Stays On

Here is a good article. It is for newer ecv's but the same advice for m998's

Govplanet HMMWV initial bid set to 5000

My opinion is that the quality of hmmwv's is down based upon the trucks available now so the minimum bid is still too high for me. Then add the buyers fee, sales tax, shipping and then repairs to get it off road worthy. (gold plated blinker arms and hard doors now! lol)

    Rebuilding X doors - Parts

You're welcome. I have not had to change them. However on other mv's, I have used a glass tape that is similar electrical and tar-ish tape.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

amg intake stack available for late model hmmwv's (m1113/1114/1152/1165/1167) in a crappy environment. It is just a precleaner section attached to a stack. The mushroom cap is part of the precleaner. Omega bracket holds it to the window frame.

    Rebuilding X doors - Parts

Each door window has 4 plastic bushings. I always have bought oem so using something else is a guess but doable. There are at least 2 thicknesses of glass for X-doors so the window frames are different to accommodate this. I use only DOT glass from a local shop and it comes tinted slightly...

    Replacing the HMMWV Windshield

I remove the windshield wipers. A lot easier to install with them out of the way and no worries about flexing the new glass causing breakage.

    Rebuilding X doors - Parts

What Steve said. CARC, especially type 2 is very easily covered with a light sanding and wash. Just remember it IS CARC so take the necessary precautions when working with it. Light chips in CARC can be sanded smooth, deeper ones can be patched with a little bondo. If the matting is exposed...

I finished my M1152 conversion and am starting an M1165 conversion. Fun!

    Alternator issue?

Very normal for the older control boxes. Cylce time is based on cross over water pipe temperature. The newer Smart Start units (that have a test plug on them) do not do this. The relay inside the control box that cycles the glow can stick and wreak havoc on the glow plugs. Therefore it is...

    Alternator issue?

Your control box is cycling the glow plugs, should stop in a minute or two.

    smart box/controller replacement

Keep good batteries, brown out is bad for them. Carry a rubber hammer to keep the contactor working.

Removing the bar behind the front seats

In about 1995, AM General removed the B-Beam on H1's'. An H1 soft top frame assembly is much more robust than the hmmwv soft top frame thus it helps spreading any side loads. As stated, the steel rocker protection helps with the reinforcment of the rocker with the B-beam removed on an H1. If...
