You just have to take care of them like any other engine. Alot of guys dont like 3116s because you need the special injector setting tools. The C7 is alot better than the 3126 . Has alot of improvements. Just my 2cents but Cat does make some of the longest lasting engines out there. CAT...

3116 CATs aren't bad engines. They just require maintenance like every other diesel.

Try swapping the start relay out with another relay and see.

Im a heavy equipment technician for a cat dealer and cat filters are some of the best but the only thing is you will have to pay good money for them

the A3 is powered by the Caterpillar 3116, it has more power than the multi fuels. however it was one of the worst engines CAT ever made, and like wreckerman said anything painted yellow will cost $$$ to get fixed, i can testify to that because im interning at a CAT dealer
