They normally just sit on the frame. I've done a rubber mount and a u shaped cradle on each frame rail for added mental health. You need all you can get, Discoball.
I would not rev the 6CTA in our trucks over 3K. Cummins says they see a lot of snapped crank shafts due to differential harmonics. No damper in the world can manage that. The marine motors mentioned use a different crank.

What's all the boo-hah-hah about now? There are many trucks out there with 16+ degrees of timing... there are many ways to get it done. I love mine, but did way more than just timing.
No, just change that end of the drive shaft and the trans yoke. I am with Simp. The rest of the 5t joints are avaialble and easy... the 5T trans side joint is a Meritor part, frequently found at Freightliner. The Bastard joint? Not so much.
