This tire was on my M92A1 when I picked it up at Ft. Benning, CA in Nov., 2012. The tires all looked new, including an NDT tire in the spare rack. This one was flat and I think the rim ruined the sidewall. While doing the other checks I aired it up using a long hose with a glad hand...
I'm posting this on the 5 ton forum, but it is for Deuces also.
I have located a source on batteries and have negotiated a quantity discount. The brand on the batteries is Deka which is supposed to be a quality battery.
There are two choices a smaller one that will fit into the battery boxes...
I'm singin' the blues right now, too. I have a couple of 9 year old batteries in my deuce and one is dead. I have 4 batteries in my M923 that are 4 years old. They don't seem to be doing well.
See...
I also want to sing the praises of the G7200 ($100), but if you have a rig with 4 batteries you should consider the NOCO G26000 ($200) because it has twice the output.
Those prices are what you can find if you shop around.
Give the lady a big hug! I’ve been cut off after 2 trucks and 4 trailers (I don’t count the M105 I sold for a $100 profit). At least you got a couple of HUMVEEs before the door slammed down.
I have sleep in my M109!
RE “Married her 2 weeks after we met, 21 years ago”: we got engaged 2...
I read an article about a Sgt. whose job it was to load Iraqi tracked vehicles for shipment to the US for analysis. One of his biggest problems was that most of the vehicles' brakes didn't work due to bad maintenance. I guess if you have wide open deserts, you don't have to stop so fast.
I'll see what's shakin' Saturday. My wife and I are both in school, so Saturdays are often crunch day.
BTW, got any decent used truck batteries laying around? My deuce batteries are both 8 or 9 yr. old and one has crapped out. I don't want to buy 1 new one and match it up with an old one.
Two comments:
1) MAN what a super effort you are putting into this rig!!
2) Your rear platform hides your tail lights. Might be nitpicky, but there was a thread on this site a few weeks ago about a dude who was killed when someone ran upon him in the night while he was driving an MV...
This is the end of the Jammed Starter post, but not the end of my troubles.
I feel a little foolish about not being able to see what caused all my trouble. Before starting all this I put the batteries in parallel and charged them with a 12 volt charger 'til the current dropped way down. It...
In searching threads for info, I came across this one.
I have an M109 I picked up in 2007 (8 yr. ago) and one of the batteries won't take a charge. it shows all the symptoms of bad sulfication (sp?). Open circuit it shows 12+ volts, but upon putting a load on it, i.e. trying to start the...
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
I read it straight through while convalescing at Walter Reed AMC and died (almost) laughing. My new father-in-law was a wing commander at Shaw AFB and a WWII bomber pilot, so I bought him a copy. He ranted and raved about how wrong it was and would hardly speak to me...
Two years ago my wife and I rented a car and went from Denver, CO to Ft. Benning, GA to pickup an M923A1 that said "Vehicle does not run". I could see in the photos that it had 2 flat tires, but that was the only thing out of the ordinary. The GL yard man jumped my truck to an M925 next to it...
This is where I'd spend my $$. Split rims are dangerous, which is why the US DOT outlawed the manufacture of them for civilian use in 1976. Today only tire shops with cages will touch them.
Frequently with tubes, the tube didn't get expanded correctly before it was aired up and it got a...
Update, but not a conclusion.
I started to take the starter apart but, even with the TM that frank8003, which was the correct one, I decided that I ought to let someone with some experience look at it. I took it to a local starter and alternator repair shop who said they would charge $50 to...
I have heard P51s go by low and WOW, but I would really love to have heard the four Merlins in mutt_kahuna’s Lancaster (page 1) !!
A good friend of mine was an EWO on a Navy Reserve P2 Neptune years ago and told me a story of one of their cross country flights. They were bored and started...
