That is a great find.
We have one here that seems the same. I think that is a heater laying in the bed.
I have a hard top for it here, doors, a hood, all on another older cab.
Maybe other parts if you find you need anything. Ya never know.
I have had a ton of breaak problems. Always lock up...
I am only posting this here cause' its the only place I have so far, and have been unable to post on the Classifieds???
How do I do that??
I have a bunch of M135 stuff as well as other related items I would like to sell or trade, but I cannot see how to post on the Classifieds.??
Its probably...
Thanks again guys.
I had pretty much thought of doing just what yer suggesting. Plug one or both front wheels and see how it works. Then I'd at least have the trouble isolated.
Maybe just let it all at that. Id still have four wheels breaking the truck and we never really have a load on it...
Hello all,
Saturday morning here my Son and I took the truck to a big local parade. About 30 mile round trip, not counting the parade.
Had nothing but trouble with these brakes just keep locking up. I think it is mostly, if not all the front passenger wheel cause when it grabe it pulls hard...
Oh, in case anyone is wondering.
Dad was in the 7th Division 32 Regimental Combat Team (7-32 RCT)
Battery B, 48th Field Artillary
The 91029 is his birthday
I dont think I got any of the drums reversed cause I pretty much did each wheel one at a time.
But I could have gotten the shoes reversed on any particular whee.
Wouldnt riding the brakes sort of reshape each shoe???
It is the front passenger side wheel causing the problem right now. But it has...
I remeber that possibility from last year.
I sort of rulled that out when I cracked the fitting ahead of the rubber lines and the brakes released instantly.
AGGGGHHHH!!!!!
Now after that, it shows up.
I'm going nuts!!!Sure wish I could get these brakes just right. We drive it as is very carefully but I am afraid they lock up during a parade. Still not sure about that oil.
Thanks all for the help
Wow, lots of great thinking going on here.
In fact the front wheels have all NEW wheel cylinders, and from Canada. But if I remeber correctly I was pre warned about the rods and switch with the originals. BUT, I still have all the old parts and will check and be sure. There should be eight...
Hi again guys,
I checked and actually there are two different 2 1/2 gal jugs of oil Dad had.
Both are manufactured by TRAVELLER
NEITHER ONE SAYS DETERGENT
However,
One says SAE 30 Standard Non Detergent w / no additives. AP1SA
Not reccomended for automobile use after 1930
The other says...
I did not have the drums turned, and I did use the shoes as they were cause the lining was good.
Now, I only did one wheel at a time , "BUT" maybe I got the shoes swirch, front / back.
These brakes have always stuck like this since I worked on them.
Cant really say it was a problem before but I...
Hello all, It's been a year or more since I have been on here.
I am back at taking care of a few things for my Dad's 1952 GMC M135.
We spent years working on it, was able for him to do one event, then he had a terrible stroke almost three years ago. He is thankfully still with us but until...
Well I had a post on here, "Jeep wont start". Finally got it running, though not too well. Seems to be very little compression in #2. But it does run.
I put the radiator on and filled it up so I could do a little tuning, so to speak.
But now the water pump is leaking all over and throwing...
Also, here I am again.
Hey Rich, thanks for the kind words.
Earlier this month my Son was able to run the truck in a small local parade. Only cause my Dad was able to attend and watch the parade. He ran it with the airpac bypassed.
Anyway, when my Dad saw it coming, in fact leading the parade...
Well friends, MAY HAVE RIGHT!!!
I got the airpac back from Precision Rebuilders who were quite honorable and went over it again, even after a year. But realizing that we really did not ever get the truck working since it came back the first time.
Anyway, they said they were unable to find a...
I have located the timing marks on the flywheel and they jive with everything else I have done to set the timing.
I have installed new points and condenser, rotor and cap. Checked they plug wires. Everything checks out.
There is gas in the carb. The fuel pump is only two years old and pumps...
It is six volt.
I have cleaned the surface between the starter and bell housing. I have taken apart and cleaned the ground strap surfaces.
I wonder if it could be that I have cleaned and painted the distributer housing?? It's a long shot in that I did not paint the inside or the contact area...
Thanks again guys, Still no luck.
There is no wafer in the distributer. There are no marks in the pulley or anywhere on the front of the engine to use a light.
I have ordered the parts to rebuild the distributer. But I have already had it all apart and it and the points, etc, are just like...
Thanks for yer opinion. I'm sure thats what it needs in the long run.
For now, I just need to make sure its going to start.
Am I correct in that the distributer will ONLY GO IN ONE WAY????
Even so, I think I have the timing correct. With #1 plug out when I hold my thumb over the cylinder, when...
