Try International Repo Depo-----< We can build simulated guns that parts sets are not available. > Int'l Repo Depo - Simulators When Sammy was building the Ace truck they gave him some deals----Earl Tucker is the guys name-------------Driver
Here's just a couple pictures to wet the ole taste buds---The Justifier Was one of the finest gun trucks out there, for the first part of the war in VietNam they were the northern most trans company up there--POL--and northern most and POL is like oil and water in the world of war, but...
Well??? The Gathering is a VietNam Transportation veteran reunion and just grew into more and more vehicles, I decided a few years back when more gun trucks were built that it would be nice to invite any and all that had an interest in the trucks and vehicles we used, so I started posting to all...
Mike--The holes you speak of cutting----are they the holes around the armor panel?---the gun ports?---I can't tell from the photos if RLW had those kind of panels or just the sheet steel, IF it has the 2x2 holes around the edge of the panel and any of those gun ports in any panels let me...
Squatter Swatter in NOT a replica----The guy that built the truck had a last name of Black I think---And from what I have gathered he never passed it off as a replica----Driver
Black Widow has been replicated--its in Pensacola---But there was a Black Widow in Nam that Ron built his replica from----I don't think there ever was a Squatter Swatter in Nam---Then they are passing this thing off like it was actually there and intimidated the Vietnamese---Like James says---<I...
Here's a link to where the Sqatter Swatter is---Now the guy that built this truck has passed and had no part in what your going to read---but James Lyles and I both have contacted this place and they so far have refused to correct what they have to say about this truck---this is a...
Yohan---First off if your going to build a replica (cost no more) pick a truck, pick one with guns you can afford or want, pick one thats in a time frame----early or later----pick some graphics you like and pick equipment that you may or may not want to mess with--Radios and such, for instance...
Sammy that has the Ace of Spades fabed these mounts when he built the Ace, here are some photos of the ACAV mount that Mark sent Sammy for reference----Maybe one day I'll post all the stuff I have on the build of Ace and Widow---------------------it would sure be usfull in the future------Driver
The ACAV mounts we used didn't have that cut-out at the bottom, it was about the same--here's a photo of the rear of Proud American after a terrible ambush but you can see the mounts and what they looked like at the botom
That photo of King Kong is a model of the truck done by James Lyles---A really great model---On the actual truck that front hatch was welded open with another piece of armor so the driver could get into the rear or visa versa-----Driver
Yep---Same--Same----We call them ACAV mounts---They were on APCs and probably other armor-----They helped get the gun over the sides better--easyer to get into the ditches alongside the truck--------Driver
After driving M-54s all the time I never got to drive deuces much and didn't really think much about them, then I drove Randys deuce when it was turned up to 5 ton specs with the turbo( LDT )---I loved it---really fun to drive and tons of power, I can only imagine what this LDS feels like---I...
Replica or tribute---Myself I will always say replica, first off because it don't cost any more to build then a tribute truck, and besides you get a ton of history and make some crew out there totally honored, remember that these trucks were changed a bunch of times--sometimes every time a crew...
WarrenD--I keep going back looking at the photos you took, absolutly fantastic, Thank you for documenting this event for us, those are the finest photos I have ever seen of the trucks together, It was great getting to meet and talk with you, again my friend Thank you-------------Driver
Great job Randy---The hitch looked great and the way it goes on and comes off is truely inventive---glad you guys got over the road so well and made it home-----great job my friend----------Driver
WOW---eight years ago I hoped for maybe 20 people and one gun truck, and then for a turnout of people and trucks like we had this year is almost unbelievable, Thanks to the girls that put this together, Thanks to the gun truck owner/operators, and Thanks to the SS members that took the time and...
